    Hi all,

have just got totally soaked doing my walk, but I actually really enjoy walking in the rain!

Mrs M - If you want to tone up, have you ever tried callanetics? It was a big fad in the 80's but actually works incredibly well! It works you hard but you literally see results after about 3 sessions. I highly recommend it, loads of copies of the video on ebay and amazon. It may be very 80's but its the most effective workout vid I've ever used. Tried it at xmas in order to tone up for xmas party but was so unfit I couldn't cope :rotfl: . Feeling much fitter now so am planning to slot some callanetics into my weekly routine.

    Todays food:

    B. - shredded wheat and semi skimmed

    L. - slice of birthday cake  (yeah I know, but it truely is    . And the slice I had is equal to the calories I burned off on my walk, so its not even there!!!!

    D. - have a guest over so have got platter of sandwiches from supermarket. Can never eat many sandwiches as I'm very fussy, so should be quite a low cal dinner

Weigh day tomorrow  so wish me luck!
    Total debt £21,000

Hello, may I join you, please?
Have just found you by chance - and Lose Weight 19 thread - enrolled at WW the week before last.
Might have made a good start, but managed to miss last week by going on wrong night:o
My budget is tiny - the monthly fee is spur by virtue of its being ill-spared.
Cooking is from scratch, including bread(not by machine) and I believe I shop cannily, healthily, often sumptuously(DTD's, reductions, esp. 'Finest', at strange hours in Mr T), but frugally. It is possible. I grow some things, preserve, etc.
I intend losing 3-4stone, about 1/3rd of current weight(gained through 5-6 months' recent mobility restriction). Bastille Day seems fair enough.
    Bread to do now......
Already, I think it must be easier no longer having anyone to cater for, or around.
I admire all of you who manage this.

    Hiya,

perhaps some dried fruit and seeds/nuts etc. if you carry a sensible portion around in your bag you can always grab a yoghurt from M&S (or if your room has minibar, empty it and keep yoghurts in there??) and add these too it. i find this a lifesaver when im busy as it only takes seconds.

i wouldnt go into starbucks or costa if i were you, i always get tempted by the paninis!!!! :D a lot of sandwich places do soup and rolls now too which may help.

    good luck anyway. :D

Thanks. need to start thinking about this stuff now. I have a mini fridge so taking that with me. I always have milk there for a cuppa and I hate those little pots of stuff. I need to have a packed lunch sometimes. Not over keen on ready made s/w and trying to avoid too much wheat, I can pick up some fruit and yogurt from the buffet at breakfast. Maybe get a little salad from M& S. Will have mushrooms, tomatoes and a bit of bacon or something . Can’t be doing with full English everything. Another downfall in Harrogate is the bakery counter in Bettys, lots of their stuff is nice, even for bought ! Again, this year the wheat thing might keep me away… there’s always almond macaroons! I tend to have a bread and sandwich based diet the week I'm there as a rule! I think I'll also take some of my HM granola, as that's good for a meal at any time of the day, along with a piece of fruit.

    Hiya!
Just wanted to say PurpleIvy, that I got hooked on those supoosed 'low fat' biscuits a couple of years ago, till I suddenly realised that I could buy a pack of 'ordinary' biscuits to decant them up in little packs of two mesen--very :money: :D When I last looked,
ordinary garibaldi were the same or less in sugar & fat than 'Go Ahead' brand anyway!

Perhaps you could do the same sort of thing with HM flapjack & the like? Plus if you put double the cling film round it, it makes you think twice when you fancy a snack cuz of the effort it takes to unwrap it again:rotfl:

    Hi All,

Just had a lovely 2 hours on the beach. It's really warm but there is a light breeze so we were able to enjoy our walk without being too hot. I think we did about an hours brisk walking, half an hours mooching along the water's edge, quarter of an hour poking around in rock pools and the rest of the time sitting with a cool drink in the village square. The walk was up to the lighthouse and along the beach so some steep inclines, some scrambling over rocks and walking in soft sand so should be good for the calorie loss. OH wore the pedometer which read nearly 8,000 by the time we got back. With the bits it misses and my shorter steps I reckon I have done my 10,000 for today.

I've had a good day foodwise too. I made carrot soup this morning so had that for lunch. I baked a roll to go with it but found I didn't need it so OH ate that for me.

B: Muesli mixed with fruit and fibre, raisins and skimmed milk. Pineapple juice.
L: HM carrot soup. Raspberry yoghurt (frozen so it felt like eating icecream).
D: Will be pork steak with mushrooms, green beans, potatoes sauted with onion. Banana.
Snacks: One small coke, orange. Several tiny milky coffees.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and good luck to those weighing in tomorrow.

Just a small victory to report!
Just had lunch with a client at a breakfast buffet thingy and managed to have just salad, scrambled egg and garlic potatoes. Strange concoction I know but they don't do veggie stuff in these things over here!
Still, they had loads of yummy looking big squishy desserts and I ignored them - just a small triumph but better than usual!

Also have done the Tesco delivery shop for when I get back and was ultra strict and just bought what I needed - mostly fresh fruit/veg and some dairy products. Won't have time to shop before Easter so I'm stuck with my good intentions now!

    Welcome Rachel and ampersand. :)

I'm on a little budget too ampersand but I'm finding that I'm saving more and more by really looking at our portion sizes and cooking from scratch so you're not alone, lots of us doing that on this thread. ;)

Hardly had a minute today. Rushing round with DS1 as he had no decent clothes to take away on hols in 3 weeks and he's pathetic at shopping. He hates clothes shopping so we took him to Asda and he's bought lots of tshirts and jeans, trainers and shoes.. even managed to persuade him to get new socks. Was so relieved that we don't have to foot the bill for his clothes these days. :p

Was totally worn out from trudging round shopping but met some friends and went out for another walk this afternoon. Now I'm half dead and I've quickly taken painkillers for my poor knees. :o Up side is that DH is in the kitchen cooking the tea and fetched me in a coffee. :D

Gonna have to google 'spelt' cos I've not idea what it is and I keep hearing it in connection with cooking. I thought spelt was a splinter. Sure that's what OH calls them although I'd never heard it before where I grew up down south.

    Food today:
    Bierwiest in a soft roll.
Readybrek (doing a 'pigpen' and having lunch for brekkies :p )
Creamy lemon chicken and pasta with salad

Snacks - slice of chocolate tart with cream  raspberry yoghurt & apples

Right then, I think I'll have a little surf before settling down for the evening with hubby and the boys. I can feel another dvd night coming on. ;)

Nearly forgot - lovely to have you back Taplady. Well done at getting in size 12's  . I don't think I ever was a 12....maybe when I was 12. :o
