If your spending the money you mentioned in a previous post then O2 will want to keep you as a customer - my advice is to ring retentions again and speak to anothger advisor.

Where did you get your O2 contract?
Thanks I will call them tomorrow. I got my contract through dialaphone.

You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.

You should ring them on the first day of the final month of your contract, or a few days before and tell them you want to end your contract on its expiry date. They require 30 days' notice, but earlier notice is presumably allowed :)

Best to call on a weekday during working hours, to be sure that Retentions is open. They don't work Sundays, I think (never got answered when I called).

    Hi Meandu

I phoned I still had 4/5 weeks left. No problem they want your custom. £9.50 is better to them than £0.00 a month. Just be polite. I used to be with T mobile and they offered me a great deal. But my family changed to 02. Better PAYG deals so I moved networks.

O2 are now taking the absolute michael - I am seriously fed up and will cancel on wednesday if they do not deliver my new handset.

Negotitated a great deal out of them thanks to this thread, and got the Nokia 6280 for £49.99. Fine, until they tell me that it is not in stock. That was 3 weeks ago. Have kept phoning and was finally told on Monday that the phone was ordered and should be with me this week. Gets to today and no phone. Ring again, and am now told that the order hasn't gone through, as it needs a special authorisation as the phone price has been reduced. Asked when it would be authorised and was told, "whenever."

Now I am livid, at this. Whilst I don't mind having to genuinly wait for a handset to come into stock, I feel that they are now taking the p, by not sending it to me, when I know others have received theirs. I got another £25credited to my account, in compensation, but I'd rather have had the handset 3 weeks ago to be honest.

So, although they were good when negotiating my new deal, it seems that they are not quite so good, about sending out the upgrade handset - seem to recall that they did this last year with me also.

Is anyone else having troubles getting their new phone delivered, or is it just me?

Right well I have emailed Peter Erskine this morning as I have now rang bloody O2 and they now tell me that they have ordered my new phone but it is no longer in stock on the computer system that my account is registered on, although it is availiable on the alternative system! They are taking the absolute p out of me - really they are!!

I am so angry - I just hate bad customer service. I compare the service that I have encountered to the service that my partner has received from 3 and there really is no comparision - his has been first class the entire time.

I will see what Peter Erksine has to say and if I get no where I will be cancelling my contract with O2, something which maybe I should have done last year at upgrade time, maybe.
Nice Shoes & Expensive Designer Handbags, are my downfall!

After reading the posts here, I felt morally obliged to ring o2 and ask for my reference so I could transfer to 3. Result (I hope...)! After a brief discussion, transferred to 500 mins retention deal at £25/month plus a Nokia N70 at no charge.

N.B I have been with o2 for 4+ years, paying approx £30 to £35/month on the 200 mins tariff. I got a free Nokia 6230 off them about 15 months ago so that'll be on eBay soon...

Quick update, called o2 again today about the tariff they offered me but couldn't give me, because I am a o2 U.K not o2 online customer. 1000 mins anytime any net plus 100 text £20 a month, should be £35. They now have gave me the same but they will have to re-new it every six months, its o2 500 with double mins and texts, 1000 mins and 200 texts. I have asked for a confirmation email this time, and they have agreed to do this but I have not received this yet.
