  • Continued from the above post.....

I phoned back and accepted the 500 mins and 300 texts for £25. As the woman went to put it through, she realised she couldn't offer me that because I'm an O2 Online customer. She offered me something inferior and I said I'd phone back.

Yet again I phoned back and said how I wasn't happy that I'd been offered something, then had it taken off me again. Got put through to a Team Leader who was more helpful than everyone else put together. She got me 500 mins and 300 texts for £30 per month with £60 credit-back, which still works out at £25 per month.

Took 4 phonecalls, but I got there in the end!

This thread is brilliant, and its great to here of so many people getting some brilliant deals from O2. Heres my dilema....

I am currently on the online 50 (old one before it chagned) and get 50 x net min and 500 texts for £19.00 (last years offer has just ended)

I want the new nokia 6280 which they are offering free if you sign up as a new customer.

Rang today and the guy said that he could give me 200 x net min and 500 texts for £15 per month but the lowest he could sell me the phone for was £50.00. I said that I wanted time to consider it and would phone back.

Do you guys think that there is any chance that I can get the cost of the phone down anymore - he went away and spoke to his manager who said that £50 was the lowest they could let me have the phone for.

Most other places will give the phone for free but will charge alot more on the monthly line rental.

    What do people think?

Hi niceshoes, I'm in the same position as you- on online 50 (old one) and spending just over the £19 per month. I've been offered the w810i for £50 which I'm considering, was wondering though how you got offered the extra mins and reduced monthly cost- did u quote a deal you had seen or just ask outright if they could better online 50? Thanks
  • I initially told them that I was going to 3 and the reason that he upped the minutes (at no extra cost) was because I wasn't happy about having to pay £50 for the new phone, when it is free to new customers signing up to O2 online and also free from many other network providers.

I think that many other posts on this thread have successfully managed to get the w801i for free - but I could be wrong.

Don't really want to leave O2 as I can't be bothered with the hassle, plus to old onlin 50 tariff gives you quite a lot for your money i my opinion (50 x net mins 500 texts)

Good luck - let us know how you get on x

I am in the same situation - I am an online 50 customer (old tariff) and want to upgrade to a Nokia 6280. I phoned them and they said the upgrade would cost £159.99 so I asked for my PAC and they then offered to reduce my contract by £10 per month, so I would be paying £9 per month but still £159.99 for the phone (effectively meaning they are discounting the phone by £120). Alternatively I could get my PAC and resign up for the phone free on their website and port my number (but I would be on the new tariff with less texts) - what should I do?

You could try phoning them back to see if they will put you on a higher tariff, for the same monthly cost of £9.00 - £40 wouldn't be so bad to pay for a brand spanking new handset if they increase your minutes and texts for free. I think if you phone back they may offer you something else - you could always quote another online tariff see if they can match it for you.

They did this to me last year when I wanted the nokia 6630 - had to pay £100 for the handset, but they discounted my line rental by £5.00 per month so in effect paid £40 for the handset.

Or you could hold on for a few months until the Nokia comes down in price. The N80 is out in May, so that might push the price of the 6280 down a bit.

  • Wwwwwwwhyyyyyyy did i not see this thread sooner!! Ok i have 2 days left on my 14 day period (where i can return my phone if not happy) with O2, this is a renewal - my contract ends in a week. I have the Sony Ericsson 750i, 750 anttime, cross network minutes and 750 texts for £35. I honestly dont need that many texts and dont really want to be paying 335 a month. Do you have any advice and are they still offering deals as they were before? At the start of this thread i saw many many people getting good deals but it seams to be decreasing as it got to thispoint.
Any advice would be so so appreciated. Thank you in advance!

If you only have 2 days left of your 2 weeks cooling off period you need to act fast if your not happy. I had a complaint but was 2 days over the 2 weeks and they wouldn't budge, which I understand but was still annoyed  Call them back and say you have thought about it and don't A)want to pay £35 B)you don't need all those txts/mins. Ask if they can lower the txts and mins so you pay less each month. Can't hurt to ask. If it helps, I got 200 mins anytime/xnet and 500 txts for £15 per month, so I'd say go for somewhere in the middle. HTH

1 am on the 100 mins + 100 txts paying £25 a month. I am due for renewal in a few weeks so I phoned them up yesterday seeing what they would offer.

They said I could have 200 mins and 100 txts for £15 a month plus a free handset - I am currently using a Sony P910i and do not see anything better on the market at this time so instead of taking a phone, they have credited my account with £100 so that should give me nearly 7 months of free use.

Does anyone think this is a bad deal? I am pretty pleased with what they have offered - they must be desperate to keep customers.

Thats a good deal!! I wouldn't say there desperate to keep customers, what i would say is that there the better of the mobile phone networks for looking after existing customers and there valued custom.

    Nice deal through :)
