Of course they won't match a better offer now that you're into the contract. Calling retentions and getting a deal is done a month before your contract ends.....not 3 months into it. You're supposed to haggle before you take out the contract, not after.
The advice being given is meant for people nearing the ends of their contracts, it won't apply if you are out of the 2 weeks "cooling off" period.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Going to phone retentions in a minute to try and renegotiate a new contract. If I dont get any luck I think I am going to just sign up for O2 online again if they dont offer me the Nokia 6280 for free and port my number. If I ask for the PAC does that mean that my contract will end or do I need to give notice as well to end the contract? Also how much notice do I need to give?0

OTHER PEOPLE HAVE MENTIONED THAT THEY GOT A PRICE MATCH MONTHS INTO THEIR CONTRACT. DON'T TALK TO ME LIKE I'M STUPID!
I wasn't talking to you like you was stupid. You read it that way. And theres no need to shout.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
This thread is brilliant, and its great to here of so many people getting some brilliant deals from O2. Heres my dilema....
I am currently on the online 50 (old one before it chagned) and get 50 x net min and 500 texts for £19.00 (last years offer has just ended)
I want the new nokia 6280 which they are offering free if you sign up as a new customer.
Rang today and the guy said that he could give me 200 x net min and 500 texts for £15 per month but the lowest he could sell me the phone for was £50.00. I said that I wanted time to consider it and would phone back.
Do you guys think that there is any chance that I can get the cost of the phone down anymore - he went away and spoke to his manager who said that £50 was the lowest they could let me have the phone for.
Most other places will give the phone for free but will charge alot more on the monthly line rental.

niceshoes. I'd definately ring back at least once, maybe twice. When I first called retentions I was offered 75 anytime minutes and 300 texts on an 18 month contract for £19. I asked if that was the absolute best they could do and the guy told me I won't get a better deal from 02. Of course I knew this to be wrong after reading most of this thread. I called back and quoted a deal I'd found online and was immediately offered 200 anytime any network minutes and 500 txts for £15. (same as you)
So I think if you call back and ask for any other deals you *might* get lucky and get a different operator. Worse case I think, you have to think that the line rental and fone cost is £230 all in for a yr. Thats £19 ish per month. If you can't find/aren't offered better than that then I'd go for it. OK so you might end up having to pay for the fone but its the lesser of two evils.
HTH & good luck:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Thanks for the advice - I think that I will ring back tomorrow and see what else they say, and then failing that I will go for it. To be honest, there are no other deals around at the moment that will give me such a low cost monthly fee and the phone, most other networks want you to commit to a much more expensive tariff before they will give you the phone free.
Yes, I think that I will phone back and accept what they offered me as this seems to be the cheapest way of getting the phone I want at the moment.

Phoned today "to request a PAC code because I'm moving to 3" and got offered 400 mins and 500 texts for £35 per month with a free Samsung D600, instead of the normal £45. Said I'd phone back.
Phoned back and got offered 500 mins and 300 texts because I needed more minutes and fewer texts. This was for £30 per month with a free phone. Said I'd phone back.
If I could keep the 500 mins/300 texts combo, butbring it down another £5, I'd be more than happy.
Anyone got any tips before I phone again?0
