O2 New Retention Tariff Discount 500 / Discount 750

This is my first post & I just wanted to say thanks for helping me with my first upgrade haggle.

I first read Martin's article, checked the price comparison website & rang
retentions saying that I wanted to stay with o2 but that I could get a Flext20
deal with Orange for the same price but more calls & texts (was Online 50).

I had a lovely chat with the lady who offered me 75/200 for £20 pm for 18 mths, a k800i (the phone I wanted which was a free upgrade) but because I was "the first person in 2 hours who hadn't yelled that I wanted to go elsewhere" she also threw in a free memory card with no prompting at all! I took this offer up.

I was v chuffed with this, but then read this thread & so wasn't anymore! I wrote down the best offer & called retentions back the next morning saying that I had spoken with a friend in the pub whose upgrade was better than mine & got the first 12 months for £15. And when I got the memory card it was 1G!

Although I'm thrifty I'm not normally a haggler & was pleasantly surprised @ what can be got when you say upfront you don't want to move. Though next time I will read the threads before I accept any offers!

i have asked for my pAC codes but is it worth ringin again to see if they will better it before i go searching elsewhere do u think?

they said they would give me the £100 off if i didnt have a phone but then i wouldnt get the 20% off so it would be£24 for 200/200... didnt seem much of a deal after last year i have to say

I am currently on a 12 month O2 online tariff, where I get 100 mins and i think 400 or 500 texts for £25 a month.

I have an average spend of around £28 a month and use about 70 mins and 200 texts a month. At the moment I have a SE K800i.

My contract runs out on 19th June, do you think O2 would be willing to drop my contract to £20 a month for the same tarriff and throw in a new SE K810i as well or is that asking too much???

phoned o2 today, normally just renew contract and choose a new phone, so was a little unsure as to what all this retention business is about, rang them and said that I could have 200 mins/300 texts for same price as what I am paying them (50 mins/200 texts - £20), she asked who with and I said e2save and that the handset I wanted was free with both them and o2. She tried to offer me a 18mth contract but I said I only wanted 12mth, very nice lady, went through a couple of offers including increasing the amt I pay etc, but I settled on 100mins/400 texts (I text a lot more than I talk, I only use it to ring out on just to use my mins up), very happy with this, same price but double what I have atm and the phone should be with me tomorrow!! I can't possibly thank the 2107 replies on here lol, so a huge Thank you to everyone who has had input on this thread as without it I would just be renewing it as normal.

Phoned them today and the guy I spoke to was a right div, completely uninterested in keeping my custom.

Currently on 500 anytime mins + 150 texts for £25

Was offeered 750 anytime mins + 150 texts for £28/month and the n95 handset for £230 - guy wouldn't budge in it.

Said I'll have to think about it but if there was no budging on the deal I'd have to cancel and he was like fine and that was the end of that!

just called today - lovely lady

gotfree nokia 6300 and 750 xnet mins and 750 txts

£75 cash back and £30 per month for the first 12 then £35 thereafter

thought that was ok ?

I decided to give o2 one more try and I was glad that I did!

Spoke to a really nice girl- I explained that I was leaving because I didnt want to go onto a 18 month contract- she said I didnt have to. I explained that I saw the flext t-mobile tarriff on DAP website and was gonna go for that cos I get U600 free and it is £25- less £10/month in redemption. I asked if she could meet me at £20 for 12 months.

She offered 50 mins 200 text at £20 on a 12 month contract with U600 and I accepted! I get the phone within 48 hours!

Very pleased (I dont use voice mins so the tarriff is perfect for me!)

I have just come off the phone from o2 - I sorted my contract out this morning with the u600 - was told it would be here in 1-3days, had an email this pm saying it is out of stock, phoned o2 just now and he confirmed all orders are now on back order - phone is due in on Thurs or Fri - if you check the status of your order online, you may well find it is now saying out of stock (even though when I ordered it at 10am it was in stock!!)
