  • Hello everyone!

Yesterday's boiled ham was a reasonable success - the outer bits where it has been in direct contact with the water were a bit tasteless but the inner bits were rather nice. I made a parsley sauce with parsley from the garden and had it with mustard mash and loads of peas. OH was reasonably impressed, and got to do the manly carving thing into the bargain! He's gone off to w**k with ham and (homemade) chutney sandwiches this morning so I think he is quite pleased. I hope so as he'll be having the same tomorrow as well... :rotfl:

I'm going to venture out beyond the village today, will drive for the first time since surgery last Monday and find a new place to walk and think. I'm having a restful day as I was super tired last night. I tried to go all day without an extra sleep to prepare me to go back to w**k next week but maybe it was a bit ambitious.

Thank you all for being so welcoming to this OS nearly-newbie and and have a good day all.

Morning all  hugs to those that need them

Scuzz, good luck with the job hunting
Hester, I hope Katy gets on better today, I always found it really scary when some of the larger boys had tantrums at my former school - I'm only 5'2" tall and found it horrible if they started playing up.
tru, glad you have a friend for the new piggy :)
    taplady, enjoy your days off!
Quiet day here I hope, I am determined to get out earlier than six today  - I worked 14 hrs yesterday, not including the travel and am shattered! I have to be in at 7.30 am tomorrow, so really do need to go early today, or I'm going to be asleep at my desk. Bread maker woke me up at 5.30 am this morning, normally it doesn't but I swear it's getting noisier as it gets older. I wouldn't have minded, but I must have been on auto pilot last night and forgot to put the kneading blade in. OH cooked last night - which was sweet of him. Random curry for tea - that is if I've remembered to switch the SC on :rotfl:

I've got to give a presentation in 20 mins, so I ought to go and read my notes one last time. :)

Have a good day, cel x

sorted out a load of clothes to put in a 'make a wish' bag that was popped through the door, anyone ever heard of them before? I think it's for children to make their last wish come true if I remember rightly.
Tea tonight will be chicken curry done in the SC.
    Hope everyone is well x
  • morning all

Feel carp today - really tired as I didn't sleep well. That's two nights in a row.

Need to go into office today as boss and his wife are at a funeral. Won't stay all day though as I feel rough. Need to pop into school where I'm a governor too. Won't stay long there either. Just want to crawl back into bed tbh.

Dinner is chicken, mushroom and sweetcorn pie with mash and veg. Lunch will be HM wholemeal bread with chicken and salad.

(((hugs))) to all who need/want them. Have a tremendous Tuesday. xx

    Morning all
Still frosty out there but the fog is lifting and the sun is breaking through. I turfed OH out of bed a bit earlier today so I could strip bedding and it's ready to go on the line now. I think the weather is going to change for us tomorrow so I wanted it out in the sun while I could.

Watched a recording I made of a Too Posh to Wash programme last night - the one with the student who wanted to be student rep or was it president of students' union? Anyway, he was well and truly scrubbed and decked out and looked so much healthier! Aggie and Kim reminding us to wash bedding at 60 at least and at least once a week made me do mine. It had been about 8 or 9 days but never mind eh?

Oh is off to watch stepson play football tonight so won't be in for tea. It's DD and me so might make an odds and ends curry or something like that. the grocery challenge is going ok this month I think but need to make a menu plan.

Hope everyone has a good day

    Morning everyone :hello:

scuzz - best of luck with the job hunting.

harduphester - I am amazed at how "thick skinned" Katy seems to be. Or just not living in the real world................ She's been in the UK for long enough to have sussed us out, surely.

AussieLass - :rotfl: at the rain. Bet it's still warm though. :( Can you send some over for us, please?

Well, I've got things to do this morning but I needed to post on here before I do anything else!!! I've got my hair appointment this morning. That's always pleasant as my hairdresser is a real laugh. My mum is convinced that he over charges because he always goes on fabulous holidays. Example: my parents saved and saved to go to a nice hotel in Italy for their 25th wedding anniversary 10 years ago, for 4 nights. Nowadays, Guiseppe (my hairdresser) goes there for 2 weeks in the height of the season! :)

Whilst I'm in town, I've got to try and book tickets for the town's literary festival. DH is into mountains and things, so he wants to go and see Stephen Venables (first Brit to climb Everest without oxygen - nutter). Then there's also Nicholas Crane (Great British Journeys and Coast). I'm trying to decide whether I can go an see Christina Lamb too...... however it's mid-week and Ofsted are coming for a visit after half term sometime.......

After that I'm scooting to meet a friend for lunch before hop, skipping and jumping up the A1 to see my parents. My mum is wanting me to sort out their antivirus as they've just got broadband! Oh and then she wants me to help to book their holiday over the internet. This will be a first for my mum as she normally goes into a travel agent (sharp intake of breath) and takes their word as gospel!

Ooooh, I've just seen one of my favourite radio djs/authors on BBC Breakfast - Stuart Maconie. How I love his wit. DH just rolls his eyes everytime I mention Stuart Maconie........ and then admits that he's actually quite good.

Better go and get myself sorted.

Well the tenant is still not out but promises 'faithfully' we'll have the keys by teatime today - er yes we were supposed to have them on the 1st, then on the 8th and then yesterday  OH seems to believe him but he's too soft with things. Anyway i'm trying to distance myself from it and not dwell because i'll either end up crying or screaming and thats not good for jellybean.

Big thanks to whoever posted about the free tin of Focus paint with Your Home magazine - really sorry i can't remember who is was, was it TattyCath?? But a big thank you, i got my magazine yesterday so thats 1 free tin and i'm gonna buy a couple more mags, give the vouchers to my mam and sis and get them to go in and get the colour i want for the baby's room :)

DD has gone on her first school trip today, she missed last year because of being ill. They're going to Shibden Hall in Clitheroe and shes so excited bless her :) I feel sick to my stomach at the thought of her going somewhere without me but thats just me being daft and overprotective  She'll love it :)

Parents evening tonight so a chippy tea afterwards - our little 'tradition', OH tells DD we'll bring chips home for tea if her teacher says shes been good and she sits waiting excitedly for us to see if we bring them lol. Which we always do, shes a good girl :)

    Take care all

  • Morning All,

Hugs to those who are poorly or not sleeping properly.:grouphug:

I have a day off today but don't tell DS! My very good friends are emigrating to Oz on Thu (how romantic starting a new life on Valentines) :heartpuls so they are popping round later to say bye, DS is going to miss their daughter :smileyhea (same age) very much and doesn't think he will see them before they go, so we are all going to collect him from school, can't wait to see his face! and have a lovely meal somewhere, not very OS but a special occasion.

Aussie - you might be right about it being the chef not the recipie :rotfl: - can you re-post it just to make sure I got it right, want to have another go before I write it off completely and just make hobnobs...:p

Right off to make the most of the day and do some serious cleaning.

Take care all and have a terrific Tuesday.

    Good Morning All

Another fosty morning. Luckily OH scraped the w/screen again!
WM & TD on yet again! Ive got another 4 loads accumilated since sunday!

I rang the council y-day, I dont owe £400.80, I owe £786.40  I queried this bill 3 times with 3 different people, its annoying how they can let this amount add up without prior notification!

Vet is pleased with my dog's progress, still a way to go, she had formed new blood vessels, so we hope that will now clear the ulcer up on her eye! She goes back on weds again!

Savoury mince & mash for dinner tonight.
Best be off & get ready for work
    Take care
    Love Emma xxx
