Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 12th February.. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning folks
All seems well here. Another dry day in store with some sunshine. It was fantastic here yesterday. Sunny and warm and as I was cutting the grass it seemed like spring.
Managed to get a huge chunk of gardening done which was great.
I think I will re-build the rockery today which has got so weedy it cannot be saved.
House is fairly quiet with 2 kids staying at their grans and another with his mate. I think my OH is off to visit her sister today, so I shall have some peace and quiet.
Well folks, have a nice day

Morning N9eav and all who follow,
It`s not so cold this morning, only the windscreen on the car was icy and that didn`t take long to clear as it was only a thin layer.
The little chores are done for this morning bm finished before I left and i`ve put the dw on so that will need emptying when I get home.I was a bit surprised that i`ve not got a full load for the wm yet, it will probably all appear at once when i`ve the least amount of time.
DH had fallen asleep downstairs so I poked him awake and sent him to bed around 4ish, I think he will have been trying to be quiet so that he didn`t wake me when he came home and just zonked out lol.
Tea is defrosting in the fridge and i`m looking forward to it – spicy meatballs and noodles yum! Recipe courtesy of Scotrae on one of the threads.
If i`m not too tired later I may make another batch of Twinks hobnobs as they don`t last long in our house.:D
Off to do some work now.
((((hugs)))) to all who need them.
Have a great Tuesday everyone.Planning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Good morning N9eav, and all to follow:D
You obviously are still typing as I can't see your message yet:rotfl:
Really horrible and foggy here, so I'm debating whether or not to go to the gym, but hate to let my friend down. I wonder if I'm just too ready to grab at any excuse:o
Later to day I have to go and buy a roll of wrapping paper to wrap my great niece's present. A Deluxe Ariel carriage and friends set, reduced in Argos from £40 plus, to £8.99! What a bargain! Anyone with little girls in the family should check it out.
House cleaning started well yesterday, but then I got sort of distracted by my craft stash, so today I really do need to knuckle down!
Well, if I'm going to go pound a treadmill, I suppose I should go. Not looking forward to the drive.
Hope it's nicer where you are,
CM x
Morning Sunnyday, you slipped in while I was typing. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Morning All
Quieter day at work so I can actually relax about things today.
I didn't exchange on the flat yesterday, I just signed a few papers ready to exchange:rolleyes:
I've applied for a job this morning, and had a reply to another one I went for. They've set me a task to do for them before they'll decide on who gets to the interview stage. But at least I've not been told an outright no!!
Bought my sister's Easter present yesterday. She wanted a certain book, so I've got her that. Used my WHSmith points, so it didn't cost me a penny:T
Need to search for a cashback credit card. Have decided I'm going to start doing all "big shops" - petrol, groceries etc - on that, as I'll pay of the balance in full each month and get something a little extra too.
Hope everyone's okComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -

Morning all - yesterday turned out to be quite productive; did housework and laundry in the evening and got through a fair bit. DH even put down his computer and helped as I was going round like a whirlwind. My back's not too brilliant today (woke up from a horrible dream about being in a concentration camp and felt very tense), and walking and sitting is going to be a struggle today as I'm in a fair amount of pain, so I'll take it easy; I should be okay once I get going. Went through my finances and Equifax report (which I get twice a year), and am pleased at what it all shows.
In my work I get a pot of 'virtual money' each year based on my salary so I can choose flexible benefits like private heathcare, various insurances, annual holiday allowance, pension, company shares etc, so I need to finalise my choices on that. I put DH on it as well each year; last year he had two ops and rehab/physiotherapy which would've cost about £12k privately, and he'd probably still be waiting for the NHS to sort it out now, so it's definitely been worth it for us. One option is to get vouchers for a bike so I could use it for part of my commute; don't know that I'm up to cycling 8 miles to the City at this stage with the traffic, but there are a couple of other stations I could cycle to and get some exercise in the process as I'm giving up the gym. I'll go through the Halfords website and see what's available.
Apart from that, it's business as usual - friend staying tomorrow night so more housework and bed-changes tonight. Cereal at work for breakfast, something like soup for lunch, and we'll have spag bol for dinner.
Still in love with my Panasonic - each loaf has been very good. The quick sandwich loaf on Sunday was superb with steak and onions, and tonight I'm going to make a wholemeal loaf for freezing.
Have a good day, everyone - hugs all round. It was only at the weekend that I realised how much I value the OS folder - both for practical advice and daily chats.0 -
Hello Possums,
Well a wet and soggy Aussie here today. Been chucking down all day. More floods on the way. It's either feast or famine here. Finished my mending this morning. :T This afternoon I"ve been going through my cooking folder & sorting out the recipes that I should have typed out, instead of shoving in on bits of paper.
Made an apple roly poly & custard for pudding tonight. Great weather for it.
MrsMix  Don't tell me about CSI.
CM I made a loaf of b***d today. Try and control yourself.
N9eav Gee hasn't this year just sped by.
Might be having a Ninny day tomorrow or Friday. Depends on the weather. Can't think of anything else to say so I'll come back later and tell you how delicious my pudding was.Have a great day everyone. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning all
Frosty here again this morning so the car will need scraping.
I hope Katy has a better day at work today as she was in a terrible state last night & took a lot of calming down. She's told me she is applying for her job at school, which surprised me as she seems so unhappy, she seems to think 'God is testing me'. Rather than 'I'm not meant to be a teacher in the UK'. She admitted yesterday that she's going to hit one boy in particular if he doesn't improve, whilst I can understand that it's tempting, it's not the way to go. I have to admit I nearly decked one of the boys a few weeks ago when he threatened me, he is a good foot taller than me & all I kept thinking was, 'I can't afford to lose my job' the real worry is that these boys know they can threaten staff & get away with it & some are so stupid they think they can threaten people on the street & then end up stabbed.
Oh well, I can't cure the ills of the school, much as I'd like to, lol.
Have a good day,
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone!
Yesterday was such a lovely day - far too good to be stuck in work. For some reason I couldn't get online last night so I have go SO much stuff to catch up on.
Nothing exciting has happened here.....
Hope you all have a good day x0 -
Morning all
SOLA hope your back improves, mine always seems to be going these days.
SCUZZ good luck with the job hunting
All is quiet here, OH has gone to work and DS is still in bed. Have work later. Will nip down to the allotment this morning, plus a bit of studying. Seem to have loads of sausages in the fridge that need using up so will cook some before I go to work and hopefully OH will cook some for DS tea.
Must have a look at the ISA thread soon. I've had mine for ages, don't think it's doing much at the mo, so I need to swap it over.
Off to get DS up.
Have a lovely day all

Morning :hello:
The rabbit turned on the new piggymouseShe attacked him and kept spraying, it smelt like rotting onions, it was vile
We separated them again but Beans went very quiet and wouldn't move from the corner so we did the only we could - went back to the pet shop and bought his brother
They're happy now. Will post pics later. Rabbit is happier on her own
Master tru borrowed my bike a month ago and left it at his mate's house  , he finally brought it back last night so I'm going on a short bike ride today. I get fit really quickly when I start exercising, unfortunately I also get unfit really quickly when I stop so I'll be back here later whinging about sore muscles
Not much to do today, I whizzed round the house like a loon yesterday so I'll spend this afternoon perfecting some designs I'm working on :lipsrsealBulletproof0
