selling books on Amazon - tips for more profit

I have used listbooks.co.uk to buy books (yes, I know, supposed to be selling), as it is cheaper than buying them secondhand off Amazon usually (well, it was for me). I will usually look there first before Amazon, but I am only really looking for novels (the penny books). I just object to Amazon's high postage charge for books (when buying - not when selling, obviously!!)
I haven't got round to listing any on there yet, although I do keep meaning to!AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0024 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the Ebay and other auctions, Car Boot and Jumble Sales Board0 -

I've got to man the book and video stall for my daughter's preschool's annual bazaar on Saturday. How painful is that going to be watching lucrative stuff selling for 50p. Seems a little unethical for me to scoop myself bargains at their expense though.0

Soolin
Soolin was in Blakes 7. But female though.
Soo are you male or female then? Certainly always pictured you being a girl.0 -

Soolin - my best guess is still female?
Purple, I went to a school Christmas fair thingy the other day and had a great time with the books, 2 carriers bags full in fact, all for around £3.00. I sold 4 of them the next day. The thing is - they set the prices, I didn't - so if they are happy shifting books for no more than 50 pence a go then I'm happy to buy them at that price, there was no coercing and I didn't shove everyone else out of the way (tempted tho). I stood politely while others had a pick through then made my choices. The school was happy with the transaction, so was I. Win-win as I see it

I agree with masonic. Why not buy them at whatever the school want for the books then if you sell them at a big profit you can always donate a percentage back later if you want. Whenever I manned a book stall at school or church fete it was a struggle selling anything so I'm sure they will be pleased to get a big sale early on.

Yes, but I'm setting the prices too!
The friend that I'm doing the stall with knows about my little Amazon addiction too. Should have kept my mouth shut. If there's anything good left at the end, then I may just have to help the cause0 -

I’ve just learnt that if you amend a description of a book and relist it it is relisted as a whole new item and the original one stays in your closed page.
I learnt the hard way when I saw a book in my closed page after changing the description and relisted it (so having two listed – the original listing and the amended listing) I sold the first last week and not realising there was a second listing I sold the second last night. I have now also learnt how to refund someone!0 -
