  • Can anyone tell me if you have to send items by first class or if standard parcels is good enough, thanks.
  • I always send things first class.

This has been raised before on this (very long!) thread. The general consensus was that Amazon did not specifically insist on first class, so as long as you were quick to dispatch, second class would be ok. I always do second class, always within 24 hours of the order being placed. I've not had any complaints so far and lots of people saying how quickly their stuff arrived. I think the only thing that Amazon stipulate is that you dispatch within 2 working days.
  • This is only my second book sold on Amazon and it is quite large (1.25kg) and I looked on the Royal Mail website and it quoted me cheaper for Standard Parcels then First Class although it said delivery is 3-5 days. I then looked on Amazon which said I have to dispatch in 2 working days but nothing about which service to use or how long from dispatch now email until delivery.

Sorry, didn't read your first post properly. For heavier items I always go for first class as so far there hasn't been much in it price wise between that and standard parcels. It's the 5 working day thing that puts me off using standard parcels, but I don't think it would be against any rules. You just risk neg feedback I suppose.

Edited to add that advice given to buyers here says that orders usually arrive within 1-4 days.
  • At the moment standard parcels seem to be delivering in 2-3 days so that's pretty good, it might go slower as it gets nearer xmas
  • Thanks for that, as I am allowed 4 days until delivery and Standards Parcels is taking 2-3 days I think I will go by that method.

Wooo! I've just had my first sale!

I'm a tiny bit confused with all the pending payments things though. Mine says "sold, dispatch now" as the email title, so that's not pending and I have to send it?

Absolutely, that's the email that counts. The pending payment one is hopefully one you won't see very much.

Congratulations and welcome to the club. No doubt the first of many!
