  • Because this was a few days ago you are at a disadvantage, perhaps it might be fairer to post it - with fingers firmly crossed and go with your instinct that they are genuine

Ooooo.... you have to check this out!

I've had a JR Hartley sale. The author said that he only had a few copies from the publisher and he wanted a few more to give away. I hadn't read the book because I bought it in purely to sell so I was dreading him asking what I thought of it :o
  • Ooooooh apprentice Tycoon - do you really think it might be THE sara Sheridan then?

She lives in Edinburgh. Might have to do a bit of Googling when I get back from Nursery

  • I'd just email her outright, she can't possibly be offended, if it is the author or a namesake they must know that you'd be curious, anyone would be!

I sold some 1930's china on ebay and put 2+2 together (the ebay name and buyers addresss) and worked out that it was going to one of the Queens cousins Lady Anson. I just politely asked if my assumption was correct, she was very charming and referred to me in further emails as Agatha (as in Christie!)

Just had to share this beginners b**ls up, then I can let it go. Bought book for a pound and listed it on Amazon. It sold instantly!. When I checked I found out I had clicked wrong product, books about mind mapping, v. similar.

The correct listing would have made £2.00 more at lowest price. E mailed the buyer instantly but was panicking as usual. This all happened yesterday. Checked my email this morning and later - nothing. So bearing in mind the book was a tad heavy and wanted to send it second class, I then went in to Amazon and did a refund and relisted the book.

Seconds later, an email came saying dont worry that book will do anyway, so I had to tell her I had relisted and refunded her.

I then sent another e mail saying I was sending the book with my compliments - it was my mistake , so it was the least I could do. So the book has ended up costing me, but never mind - an early lesson well learned.

I think selling is not my forte. :o

Think of it as your good deed for the day larmy, and hope that she remembers how fair and generous you've been ;) I certainly would :D

You remind me of me .... I'd do the same :o

I think that you were fair too - it's all good Karma and it'll come back to you one day.
Did you list the book after searching the ISBN? it's easy to make a mistake if you just search by name and author, you get lots of choices of the same book like different publishers, or large print or audio etc....but with the ISBN it's much clearer.

Yes AT you are quite right. I think karmically this is what the lesson was all about :D From now on I will use the ISBN.
And thanks for the nice comment about being fair - it helps :)

When I post items out, I email my buyers to say that it is on its way and would they be kind enough to reply to the email when the item is received ok so that I can update my records. Only about 25% reply. I sent a follow up to the earliest sales (very friendly, softly softly approach) and have heard back from a few people, but still I'm left wondering whether 50% of my parcels have arrived ok.

Is it really that much to ask for someone to send a one line email to confirm receipt? Perhaps I'm just unrealistic.

    Anyone else found this?

I know they get asked to leave feedback eventually, but this seems to take some time - I've only had 5 feedbacks left and I've sold 42 items since started this 3 weeks ago. I guess that they would have been in contact if there was a problem, but it would still be nice to know that they have received it and are happy.
