Use the search button to find one of the books you're planning on selling, look at all the other copies of the same book and see what everyone else is selling at.
Click 'sell yours here' and fill in the amount that you think that it would sell at
Click onto the next page and there will be all the figures you need which are their fees and the postage allowance that they give you, at the bottom of the page there is a line that says 'paid to seller £?.?? and if you are happy with that £?.?? figure then you can list your book for real
If you don't think that the figure is enough keep going back and play with the selling amount until you are happy. By doing this you haven't put the book up for sale, you need to do one more click before it's actually listed.
Wayhay .... I did it
Listed it at £9 something. It was in the middle of new and a library book.
I realise why I had to give up earlier apprentice tycoon. I'm on dial-up and was waiting for the police to call (about the burglary), and forgot all about the 2nd line upstairs!
Thank you so much. It's now up and running for the 1p books
(I hope)

I'd better say thank you from my husband too ... I used his bank details and work address :eek:0

Just a little added note about selling 1 penny books - there will be lots of them listed so you need to make your sound better than their without fibbing about the condition of course! you can beef up your description with 'same day dispatch' assuming that you can get it to the PO same day or 'carefully read' or even talk about the story and say what you liked about it.
The space where you write this description looks like just one line but you actually have 1000 characters so you can get creative with the wordage.
The next suggestion is a bit wily - the book at the top of the page that the buyers choose from is the one that is listed last, so if your book has been listed for a few days it will be lower down the list and might not be seen. The thing to do is to keep listing the book every few days so it stays near the top and in full view, you then cancel the listing that you did a few days earlier and of course all these listings and cancelations are free.
Even though you will make just a small amount from penny books it's still more than you can sell for at boot sales, they are around 20 -40 pence there and you will be building up your feedback score.0 -

That is duff information, Amazon stopped that months ago because so many people were cancelling and relisting. They now recycle the penny listings so anyone gets a chance of being top of the pile.
Also due to a massive influx of new sellers it is getting harder and harder to sell on Amazon now.

Hi Pete, I love your MSE name.
Well, I stand corrected on that, it evens out the playing field and makes it fairer for all the listings, it sounds much better.0 -
As the regular readers know I had the attentions of one of our Nigerian friends. anyway the result being I cancelled my listing on Amazon and received the confirmation e-mail from Amazon that the listing was cancelled. I got home today to find that the item has now sold (YIKES!!).
I might be able to source an alternative but that will take a day or two.
What do I do now?
How can this happen????
Interestingly I have also had an enquiry for 2 from Italy, why does everyone want the same thing all at once and a month ago I couldn't give them away!!!!0 -
Hintza - did you have the listing mistakenly duplicated? I can't see any other reason why they can sell something that you have cancelled. I think you need to check your sellers account page again and check everything through - it just like your 'my ebay' page - everything that happens gets written up there.0

Sold my first book after 3 hours of it being listed
(Can anyone tell me if you have to use a packing slip please??)0 -
Hi sofa - I bet you feel chuffed!
I'm afraid that I don't use a packing slip, I always used to but there were a few people on this thread that said thay didn't so I thought I'd give it a go and no-one has complained. I always email the buyer when I've posted the book so there is a contact made, rather than just a book turning up with no note0 -

I am a bit chuffed tbh apprentice tycoon - it had been on Green Met for a while.
Thanks for the reply; you've just answered my next query too - whether to mail the buyer and when0
