• Hiya, have only recently sold my first few books on amazon, and I was just wondering how some sellers can afford to sell books for 1p? Whats the catch? Does anyone know?

Hope I dont sound like a complete idiot :o but I listed a whole load of books on Amazon and was happy until it hit me, do you have to send them to other countries or is it just the UK? I know I am not ready to get involved with all that so I have just ended my listings until I can be sure, I wont have to send stuff to far flung places. Can someone give me a quick reply?? The amount they allow you for postage just applies to UK does it not? HEEEEEEEELLLLLPPPP!

When you list the item you are given the option of where you are prepared to post it to. If you do sell abroad they give you extra postage.

You can still make money on the 1 pence books so long as they are light and cost less to post than the allowance that Amazon give you for the postage, the weight is critical though!

Is there any way to see how much items have sold for historically on Amazon?
• Sorry, no - or should I say, I haven't seen how to -

Just had this request in from a potential buyer. I am confused! Why does he want to pay through PayPal, I didn't think this was how Amazon worked?

How do I respond and do I deal with him?

Hello,
I'm much interested in the purchase of your item which i found on amazon. co. uk, and i will like to confirm the discription of this item as stated in your coment on amazon regarding on the item. If you are willing to sell this item for me? i will like you to reply back as soon as possible, and also i will like you to get back to me with your paypal email address including shippment fee via royal mail, and we can continue from there. You can also get back to me on my aol messenger if you are an aol user. Jckbn@xxxx. com. 2 needed.

Best Regards

• This sounds a bit strange - it looks as if he wants to side-step the Amazon process, but why? maybe he is planning a paypal chargeback which you can't do if you pay THROUGH Amazon.
If I understood your previous posts you sell high cost items not 1 penny books so I would be very wary and if he really wants your item then he can buy it in the normal manner

I re-read your 'buyers' email I and I thought that I would run a mile from someone who put 5 'kisses' on the bottom of an email then I realised that it was you who had hidden his name with xxxxx. (I need a holiday I think :o )

HAHAHA, thats what I thought too *doh* I would send him a polite email saying he has to buy via Amazon marketplace for his protection and yours ;)

My thoughts exactly!! Just wanted to check first if it was something to that was done (I suspected it wasn't). The standard of English also worried me a little. The funny thing is I have actually sold the item this morning ....I stupidly didn't realise I had listed it twice! Which was careless, but its not a mistake I would normally make...I do hope Amazon haven't duplicated or failed to remove the original.

I just do not yet have the hang of the Amazon site (being an Ebayer) and struggle to find my way around it just now. Its driving me nuts. But I guess pratice makes perfect!!
