I always send mine 2nd Class(with stamps not via the PO as they have all closed down around here, but thats another thread!!!) and I still have a 5 rating,in fact they always say how quickly they received their purchases.
I sometimes wonder if these parcels go 1st class as they cant be bothered to weigh them or dont have time at the sorting office?
I bought 2 books last Saturday and one has arrived today and one has not arrived yet!!!!!!
Its been a bit quiet this week, usually sending out 2 things a day but only about 3 this week so far................suppose it will pick up in November what with the xmas rush.
I have a question about holiday settings, last time I did this I did it 36 hours in advance as asked, but actually it only took about 8 hrs and my stuff was not listed,I am going away next week end and I am wondering when I should set the settings to holiday, not wanting to miss out on any sales.....does it usually only take 8 hours?
Thanks for staring this thread at its a nice friendly thread.0 -
Awww...thanks Angela, you're right, everyone has been friendly and eager to offer advice to their e-friends.
I have used the holiday settings twice, but didn't look at them after I clicked so I don't really know when they went off sale.
When it was time to switch them back on again the first time it took 3 days for them to be back up again, the second time it was just overnight.0 -
I have just listed a couple of cameras on Amazon and was wondering if anyone has any tips? I reckon I have EBay sussed but what is the best way to get into Amazon?
Prices look high compared EBay and I have undercut my opposition by a fair bit is this a good strategy? How will my big newbie sign affect me? How much info do I need to put in the comments box?
My main reason for trying Amazon is that I am finding sales slow just now after the summer rush and I think there is a lull before the Christmas buyers come in. I am currently fully invested in stock that is just not shifting!!0 -
Hintza, there is already an Amazon thread running so I will add your post to that. The Original thread concerns books but I think the info will be roughly the same and we get a lot of views of the Amazon thread so you should hopefully get some real expert advice.

Hi Hintza - I'm afraid that I've no experience with cameras on Amazon but I have sold some electrical items (these were the some of the special offers that keep my love affair with Viking Direct going strong).
Amazon is very good from a sellers point of view because of the 'no photos, no fees' listing and they get the money off the buyer for you so no hassle there.
As far as being a newbie goes I think you can balance this with how knowledgable you sound in your description, you have quite a few characters to use so make sure you use them all and think of as many words as you can to show that you know what your doing, you pack well, you post quickly....etc
Undercut? if you like, it really depends only on how keen you are to off-load, you can list them on ebay at the same time if you like (don't forget to cancel when one sells - ask me how I know this....:o !)
I sell on ebay a great deal and I think that you can work the 2 outlets together very well.0 -

I wouldnt undercut by too much otherwise you are just pushing the price down, start by undercutting a little if it doesnt sell then you can drop it again.
The newbie sign didnt affect my sales, just make sure you get it to them quickly and ask them to leave feedback in a nice way.
HTH and welcome to the thread.0 -
Grrrr.
I listed an item yesterday that is one of my more expensive items.
Today I've got the dreaded sale remains pending email again in respect of this new item. Leaving it 72 hours means I miss out on the weekend sales which are usually pretty lucrative. Really peeved.
I notice that it doesn't seem to physically stop you relisting it within 72 hours despite telling you that you should leave it that long. What do I risk by relisting it early?
Or is there anyway I can find out an email address of the "buyer" to ask them whether they still want it?
What a pain :mad:0 -
I have had 4 of these in 4 weeks, and not one of them turned into a sale - could it be a competitor doing a little bit of sabotage? they might think that having a few days with your book off the scene is a good idea, maybe even longer if you forget to re-list it.
If you look in your billing history you will see the supposed buyers email, it may be worth contacting them to see what the problem is0 -

Thanks for that about the billing history. Will have a look in a minute.
I must say I do wonder about sabotage. The one I had before, I'm almost sure it was as there was a new one listed at the same price as mine.
There doesn't seem to be any new items for this latest one, although I'm listing mine at a fiver cheaper than the next person. I figured that as it was a title that was still available elsewhere new, that it didn't make any sense to be selling it at an inflated price therefore listed mine at about 50p less than new elsewhere. Perhaps it was one of the other more expensive sellers....? Hmmm, maybe I should go and buy all of the other items too with false details! Tempting isn't it.
Wouldn't it be apparent to Amazon if people were doing this deliberately? Is it worth emailing them?0 -
Thanks guys. The problem is I did my listings last night after midnight and they now look like kak...no info etc.
Can I cancel and relist or will this incur fees? Is it easy to alter listing?
I am not finding the site very user friendly at the moment (but am pretty hectic so haven't had much time to learn the ropes). WWill get sometime over the weekend I hope0
