Wow - Thanks OP for starting this amazing thread. I have just read the entire thread!!

I sold on Amazon years ago, and made a tidy sum. Then somehow forgot all about it and have dabbled in ebay to clear some of the clutter. Sold some books - and hardly broke even. I'd completely forgotton about Amazon. Well no more.

I am off to retrieve the books from their 'Charity' box and list them later tonight and see what happens.

Thanks again to Aprentice Tycoon and all the other contributors to this amazing thread.

  • Thanks for the advice AT.

If any pro-merchant seller wouldn't mind looking it up for me, I'd be very grateful..... pretty please... Just say the word and I'll pm you the details. ;)

I didn't suggest this post because at the time it was listed I couldn't make it work for me but I just tried it now it does, so it may be of help to you.

It's probably me, but it doesn't actually tell you how much they are wanting to pay does it?

I did try this with Buyer waiting (in the singular) and it threw up 1500 odd results, but when you click on them they don't seem to say that there are any buyers waiting at all.

    Bit weird.

It might be to do with the google cache of that page may not be up to date?

If you change the search a bit, you can seti it to search for books, music, etc and the number of buyers. e.g. 2-10 buyers, reducing the risk of not selling your book.

    Hi

I've never done a refund on Amazon before  What do you guys think of this reply to my buyer ? I'm trying to sound as friendly as possible, but emails don't always translate...
    Hi

I'm really sorry to hear you haven't received your item, I understand how frustrating that can be.

It was posted on the 13th from a local PO, so this may explain the delay. Is it possible for you to give it a couple more days, say until the 20th just in case there has been a snafu at the PO end? I am happy to provide you with a full refund, but I've sometimes found 2nd class post to take up to 5 working days to arrive ( despite the PO claims of 3 workings days ;) )

Let me know what you'd prefer to do and I'll get it sorted out ASAP. There is a chance that you may be contacted by the Royal Mail customer service team as I have to provide buyer details to claim under the Certificate of Posting insurance scheme. Don't worry, this is only to prevent fraud and has no impact on your refund. I beleive the monies are returned to your credit or debit card in about 3 - 4 working days by Amazon from the date I authorise it.

    Regards

  • I think your email sounds good -

I would ask if there is a possibility that they were out when the PO tried to deliver and they forgot to leave a card, I'd suggest that they contact the sorting office to see it there is a package waiting for them.
That's usually my first response when someone reports a late/missing item. It's surprising how many people either don't have a card left for them or don't see it when they come home and bundle it up with the junk mail and bin it.
By asking them to check the PO it buys you another day for delivery and that might just do it.

Thanks for that. Didnt think of the card :) Its not recorded and item should fit through the door (A4 envelope, not v.bulky), so fingers crossed, it might just be delayed a day or so.

This is SO embarassing :o I still can't get passed log-in on this - the message is that my 'account doesn't provide sufficient access for this function' this will be because it's only for Pro Merchant sellers but I am a Pro Merchant seller! if I was that bothered I'd query it but I'm not really interested in hunting for a wanted book, I just sell what I find, if it's on a wanted list then that's a bonus. It may be of use to someone else so thank you in any case!
Log out of your amazon account on the welcome page and then log back in again and then try accessing the report download again.

That worked for me first time and several others have said the same.

  • Thanks - but that didn't work - I have emailled them to see what the problem is, my subscription is paid up so I should be alllowed in!

    Regarding the postage

Amazon are happy so long as you post the parcel within 2 days and the buyer gets it in 3 days so second class is OK if you do it quickly.
I found that if I use second class post it looks a bit better to the customer if you post it with stamps rather than the post office printed stickers that clearly say 2ND and the date of posting on it, the buyer would have to go out of their way to add up the value of the stamps and try to read the postmark in order to see that you had posted it second class. You can still get the cert of posting from the PO.
