OS Daily Monday 11th Feb 09

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 11th February.. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning folks.

I get to start this again it seems. Ahhhhhh a few days off, half term and no packed lunches to make.
The weather forcast is sunny and so it has the potential to be a nice day.

I don't expect to see too many early risers in this house.

I have to clean out the chicken and duck coups this morning and then I might start to tackle the garden. At least chop back some shrubs before the spring gets here.

Took the dog for a walk in Mevagissey yesterday, quite pleasant except that it's East facing, so the sun disapears pretty quickley behind the hill in the afternoon. Went to the pub in the evening for a carvery seeing as no one was home but me and the missus. A pleasant evening.

I ended up with about 12 bottles of wine, 1 bottle of port, a 3 ltr box and 5 ltr box of wine for loaning my car out for a booze cruise. Not a bad deal. Party time...who wants to come?

Well folks have a nice day

Morning all - a hard day's work ahead, and an evening of frantic housework because DH did nothing but play on the computer while I was away, the place is trashed and we have a friend coming to stay on Wednesday. I made a sandwich loaf yesterday so I'll have the rest of that with soup for lunch, and dinner will be whichever takeaway DH buys. Other than that, it's nose to the grindstone all week to try and turn this place around.

    Have a good day, everyone.

    Morning all,
it`s a bit foggy here today and the car was all iced up this morning which took a while to clear before i set off to w**k.

The dw and bm have both been on overnight and emptied this morning and some other small bits and bat done, the hobnobs that i made Saturday night have all dissappeared and DH was trying to look innocent when i asked about them  i need to remember to freeze some.

I ned to do some baking later if i get the chance so i may make some more and freeze the lot.
Tea tonight is shepherds pie, carrots and broccolli.

    Have a great Monday everyone.

  • Good Morning All

Up early this morning but boy was it hard getting up when the alarm went off!

N9eav - I also am enjoying not making packed lunchs this week.

Plans for today - going to have a surf and finish my tea then jump in the shower. Will empty dw and give kitchen counters a good clean as OH has been doing them the last couple of days. Load of washing to be put on.

Will try and get rest of the house up at 8 - which will be no mean feat and then off to the dentist. Hopefully will escape from there without too large a bill then its home for some time in the office then will start the ironing. Didnt get any done yesterday as went to football then we had guests in the afternoon, cooked dinner then flaked out.

Must remember to get some petrol on the way to the dentist but there are some cheap garages that way. Oh and just remembered that need to pop into Asda on the way home but at the moment cant remember what I need to get there  , hopefully it will come to me.

Chicken Quesadillas for tea tonight, not done them before so will be experimenting.

    Have a great day all.

We had a quiet weekend here as Katy went away.
Inlaws were over for lunch & I did turkey & beef, both left over from Christmas & there were enough leftovers for lunch today & tomorrow.
MIL is keen to learn how to crochet, so I gave her some wool hooks & a lesson.
I best be off, it's going to take ages to scrape the ice off the car this morning.
    Have a good one
    Hugs Hester

N9eav, I would love to join you, but have started a diet, and haven't managed to find the bit where it says I can drink until I fall down ;)

We had a lovely weekend, the weather was so nice, DH managed to stain some of the conservatory, so I am just waiting for another nice day to get it finished. Don't know about anyone else, but the sunshine made me feel so much better :j

Work today, so sausage casserole with jacket potatoes for dinner.

Have a great day everyone, hope we all get some more lovely sunshine

    morning all,

N9eav, you can count me in for the party :D .

Its very frosty here, will hopefully be a nice day again. Got a a wash to put on today will get it on line.

Might have a go at DD's bedroom it is a total pit, she is meant to clean it herself for her allowance, but seems to be slipping, I might leave it for her tonight.

Pork chops for tea, with mash and veg, am going to make a bannana loaf today, might try a normal loaf as well, have not tried before as we get through so little bread only 1 loaf a week, but would like to try.

essex girl, have heard of Chicken Quesadillas, but never has them, what are they ?

Not our half term untill next week DD has an ear ache, she sufferes with ear infections, will phone the DR later, she is insisting on going to school though.

Hope everyone is well and that you all have good days

    Good morning everyone!

At least I have managed to get on early today (couldn't sleep so well).

Have taken day of work to catch up with things. Have got WM and TD on, dishwasher just waiting for kids breakfast bits.
Then packed lunches to make, school run drop box and bag of stuff off at 2nd hand shop.
Haircut at home 10.30 (trying new hairdressser, much cheaper than going to a salon not that I've been to a salo for over 18mths!!). Thought I'd treat myself to a holiday haircut!!
Got a list of things to do before going away on Thursday (prb have to leave about 5.30!) today I'm gonna find sunglasses, goggles, first aid kit and medicines, sun lotion, hats and beach shoes! Nohing we've had need of recently!!

Will be nipping back during the day, this site is so distracting! I love listening to all your ways and days!

    Have marvellous Mondays all xxx
  • Morning all,

Up earlier than usual, getting myself ready for my first day back at work:eek: Feeling very nervous but have kept myself busy putting out the first load of washing ready for the day and another is in the wm. DW will go on before i leave and dinner (shep pie) is already in the fridge for dinner tonight. All packups made and now am just about to go and wake the boys up once i've had a quick read of the thread.
Hope you all have a good day. Hugs and best wishes to all who want or need them.

  • Good Morning everyone.

I'm feeling quite smug this morning. Fell asleep at 9 last night so was wide awake at 5am today. So far have done 20 mins on the cross-trainer(evil evil machine but need to do it every day to keep the depression at bay). Cleaned bathroom and had shower, have put the washing on and have a victoria sponge in the oven and a batch of scotch pancakes waiting to be cooked, just having a drink before I go and do that.

Mr Sparkle will be surprised when he gets up!:D

Hope everyone has a good day. Might be requesting help later as planning to attempt an apple pie for tea. Got some eating apples that need using, I assume they will work as well as cooking apples, just be a bit mushier?

Food today- scotch pancakes for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch or maybe cheese toasties, a sort of kedgeree for tea(well fish and rice and egg) and apple pie.

Hoping my lush grab bag will turn up today but probably won't be til later in the week.
