  • Hi guys

Guess who made it to the gym again this morning .... yay me! :j

Sorry to be self righteous but I am starting to feel like this could be the beginning of a good pattern :) I am actually at a time of the year where there are no business trips till start April so I will be able to keep the routine up properly too! I'm figuring if I can get a grip on the exercise the eating follows. I have been reasonably sensible lately although I do have to cut back on cheese again. I know it'll be fine when I start but I always find getting started tough.

So I have committed to making it to the gym three times a week and once at weekends and getting at least some walking in on the days I don't go. For now anyway. and I have finally remembered that mostly exercising is important because it makes you feel GOOD!

    Hows everyone else getting on?
  • Well done Belfastgirl23! I really admire people who go to the gym before work - it takes a lot of organising and commitment.
Well my shift doesn't start till later so I'm going to drag out the wii fit and test myself. Help!
  • oops a milky way just made its way into my mouth :o

WBH I find the only time I can go to the gym is first thing otherwise I think about it and decide that I'm too busy  . It also means you only do the whole shower/makeup routine once...good luck with the wii fit, I'd never have the discipline to exercise at home...

If I can find the energy later on that will be me too
  • Still around and having a go - made it to the gym again this morning and fitted in a couple of short walks on way to work and at lunchtime (only ten mins each but every little helps and all that). I weighed myself yesterday and had lost 1lb which given totm is a miracle.

I also just booked myself a mini break over st pats day (to avoid the misery of drunken shouting louts vomiting in the streets that is Belfast - I do the same for the 12th too) and would really like to be half a stone down for it. I am gonna have to get to grips with the eating properly. I'm doing better, eating a bit healthier, watching portions a bit better, and eating plenty of fruit etc but still finding it hard to turn down a glass of wine of an evening. And the wine leads to cheese which is where the real damage is done :)

how's everyone else? Still resolute heading into the weekend?

belfastgirl, well done on the 1lb loss!!! I am currently 0.1kg lighter than on 1 February, not pleased! But have been going to the gym, doing resistance exercises and walking (and trying to eat smaller portions) so hopefully it will all come together! My big downfall is sugar. I love sweet junky rubbish. I really need to knock that completely on the head, or maybe even allow myself one 'treat' every day and that's it.

Ooh, where are you going to for St Patrick's weekend??

I am going to be so good this weekend as I haven't been good so far today!! We can do it! This weekend, I will walk for at least two hours on both days and I will eat no more than one small sweet thing per day (max 100 calories, which is only 20g of my current craving food Nutella, eeeeeeeeeek). OK. I'll do it. You?

  • I cannot have nutella in the house. Seriously. I would never ever manage to just have 20g. In fact I know from past experience that I would stand over the jar with a box of breadsticks and keep going till it was all gone and I felt sick :)

Not sure about the weekend, I'm out for dinner tonight and it's italian and huge portions so will do my best. Though I'm volunteer driver so that helps a bit. I have a feeling I'll be with a pudding crowd as well and I am very susceptible if anyone else is having one (luckily DH doesn't have a sweet tooth so he never ever tempts me to dessert and I have to really want one to bother when it's just the two of us ). Still it's my oldest friends birthday and I'm really looking forward to it. Might see if they will do kids portions.

And we're going to London for St Pats and maybe to Bristol as well...still deciding...it will cost me a FORTUNE and not be very MS at all but hey ho...I guess that's what you save the money for :)

Good luck with the 2 hours walking, if I can haul my lazy a** to the gym on Saturday I'll feel I've done well. And you know all the good efforts will catch up with you at some stage and you'll see a bigger loss than you expected...so don't feel too disheartened at the .1kg!

Oh and PS I discovered today that Starbuck's skinny lemon and poppyseed muffin is only 300 cals - I know not exactly low cal but there is a lot of eating in it, I had one mid-morning and only had half a piece of cheese on toast for lunch and I'm still pretty full....and it does give you that sweet kick...
  • I will weigh myself tonight as I'm out tomorrow night for dinner (belated valentine weekend!) I've been pretty good with the eating front. I just need to master portion control at tea time. :D

belfastgirl23 - I know, eating just 20g will be very very hard!!!! But I really want to lose the weight. I am disgusted with myself every time I have a bad day, I just know that I can do better, you know? I've bookmarked a pile of weight loss articles so will read them over the weekend to give me encouragement.

A 300 cal breakfast which leaves you that full is pretty amazing!!! Even if it is sweet etc you have consumed fewer cals than me today (by a mile). :(

Enjoy your dinners out belfastgirl and arkonite babe!!! Hopefully they will be healthy and tasty, but just tasty will do! :D

  • So I didn't do as bad as I expected last night. Shared a breaded mushroom starter with DH, then had salmon, admittedly in a creamy sauce, with mashed potatos and veg. No dessert. And only one glass of wine (driving was a really good idea, those friends are demons for topping up your glass but they're fine if you're driving). Mind you I had a flapjack for breakfast today (Clements, yum) and went for a drink in town and had a mojito. Well half a mojito really, it wasn't that nice. But walked into town and back out which was really nice today :)

    Hope you're all doing well...
