belfastgirl23, I echo what happymummy said!!! Please don't feel bad. You've had a hard time recently, go easy on yourself. I am also at my fattest ever and feel really yuk but please do not lose heart. Go back to the gym and your workout will have even more effect because you've had a break. I've been so lazy the last year or so that my workouts are having a dramatic effect, probably all the extra weight is making my body work harder (if the huffing and puffing is anything to go by!). Pat yourself on the back for every bit of exercise you do, no matter how little. :T

I am recording my measurements instead of weight. They (hips especially) are really depressing... but I am determined to reduce them!!! Apparently each of my thighs is the same girth as Victoria Beckham's waist! :o But you know what? I can do it!! And so can you!

    Arms 10.5in
    Bust 34.5in
    Waist 29.25in
    Hips 40in
    Thighs 23in

I did wonder where you were BTW, glad to see you back.

happymummy, well done on not gaining, that in itself is something to be pleased about. ;)

I had porridge for breakfast and some grapes earlier, just about to tuck into a ham/tomato sandwich on Burgen bread for lunch after my trip to the gym. No mayo or spread as the seeds in the bread apparently make it moist enough to do without! We shall see.

  • Thanks guys, I know it's pointless crying over spilt milk  and I guess I've gained around half a stone since start of November so it could be worse given the intervening events. I do have to start getting in gear though for loads of reasons, not least of which is that I do really hate how I feel at the minute, I know my fitness level has dropped and it isn't good. I guess I'm concentrating on this at the minute to try to help my motivation.

I just seem to be having real difficulty with self control and motivation. I don't know why, but when I'm at home I can't stop eating and particularly once I start eating I keep going. Even at lunch time there I ended up having a (thankfully small) scone as well as beans on toast. And that was trying to be sensible

But I think getting back to a good gym habit will help a lot. And the walking today did make me feel better, even if it was only about 25 mins in total....

I am thinking about listening to Paul McKenna's dieting hypnosis stuff again too, can't do any harm .... watch this space....
  • I am three stone overweight but used to "carry" it well. I have been exercising since first week of january every other day and have gained on average 6 pounds!!! but feel fitter and leaner - it can't be muscle as i do not lift wieghts help me!!!!!!!

I've walked a total of 16,336 steps today, I'm really pleased. I don't manage that many every day though!! OH is making dinner so here's to having a small portion. :D

potnoodle - if you are feeling fitter and leaner then concentrate on that! Maybe take your measurements as well as weighing yourself? That way you will see if you are losing inches (far more important imo) rather than pounds. It could be useful if you hit a plateau or seem to be going backwards!!! HTH

OH made a lovely dinner, sauce was a bit calorific but I didn't have too much, and kept to a smallish portion. Afterwards I went for a walk for about an hour, which was great. I didn't have the pedometer on but it's bound to have been another 5,000 steps at least - so over 21,000 steps for the day. :j

jmcateer, really well done, you are an inspiration to the rest of us!!!!!!!! :T :T :T

    Hi,
Does anyone know of any gyms within walking distance of the city centre, or anywhere you can go swimming or to classes at lunch time or first thing? I know there's one in Adelaide St., but I don't fancy paying £40 odd a month, when I would only use it during the day.
    Thanks!
  • :j :j :j :j

Made it to the gym this morning, very proud of myself cos I nearly didn't go :D but forced myself out of bed and got there.

I managed 200 cals of aerobic excercise which is not great but really felt like a lot :o and also about half an hour of weights. Which means my arms will be killing me tomorrow but worth it. I noticed dreaded batwings starting to appear but hopefully I've caught it in time!

And made soup last night so a nice sensible lunch ahead too.

I think the endorphins kicked in :)
