jmcateer, good luck! How did you do with the 15 points this evening?
nickyalexlocke, welcome. Good for you having a goal, that is a great idea. I might sign up for a 10k myself, I am fairly fit but have let the ol' training regime slip so badly over the last year and a half.
Did anyone see the Claire Sweeney programme? She was describing exactly how I feel - heavy, big tummy, lethargic etc (except I've put on the weight over a much longer time frame - imagine what a shock it must have been to her, gaining 2 stone in 5 weeks). Spookily, my body fat was the same as hers - it used to be 22% and got as far as 30.4% before Christmas, which gave me the final kick up the bum I needed to try to shift the flab. It's currently hovering around 28-29% (who knows how accurate my body fat monitor is though?).
I did pretty ok today - walked a total of 5.4 miles or 17,133 steps. I ate well (porridge for breakfast, HM veg soup and bread for lunch, an apple, 4 plums and veg pasta for dinner), with a few Rolos the only slip-up. I am aiming for zero slip-ups tomorrow!!!Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Today's progress:
Ate porridge for breakfast, cup-a-soup and toast for lunch and veg pasta for dinner. Had a few oatcakes and a pepper as snacks... and am sitting eyeing up sweets that my OH has brought home! Tell me not to do it!
I walked 15,618 steps as well, or about 4.5 miles (to and from work and then a walk this evening). Going for a walk in the evening always makes me feel good and virtuous. :T
Still feeling fat and yuk though! Roll on the weight loss...

Going well so far.
Had 5 points left to spare on Tuesday and more yesterday.
Haven't felt hungry really. Know you are supposed to eat a minimum amount of points but I was honestly that full both evenings I couldn't have eat any more!!0 -
Good for you jmcateer. If you're full you're full I guess, no point in eating more than is comfortable if you don't want it.
I passed on the sweets last night, but ate about 6 oatcakes! And I am in super-nibbly mood today but have managed to keep my snacking to oatcakes rather than sweets. Must keep up the walking...Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Today has been very mixed foodwise!
Breakfast - porridge
Lunch - 6 sandwiches at a meeting (mayonnaise on at least 3)
Dinner - tin of chicken soup and 1 slice of wholemeal toast
Snacks - about 8 oatcakes, 5 Rolos and a piece of fruit cake!!!!!!!! Argh
I walked 11,726 steps or 3.64 miles - less than the last two days, I couldn't face going for a walk this evening and OH wants to eat out tomorrow so that'll be a minefield.
Moneywise today's been better. I've had a couple of negative spend days this week as I've returned a few impulse clothes purchases from Christmas! I've also had a £20 partial refund for something I ordered online which arrived late. So at least something's going ok. I'm going to do plenty of walking over the weekend (both days) and maybe a run some evening next week.
I will be motivated, darn it!!!!!
Edit: I only wear my pedometer outside so I actually do take more steps than I think (especially at work). I've also been taking the stairs (around 100 steps) and sometimes go down to the ground floor and walk up them at random times during the day. It is getting me a little short of breath but I console myself with the fact that my body is working harder than it did when I was 8 stone, so I will hopefully be burning off some fat!!! I just checked my body fat again and it is not showing 30.6%.
Now I know that this monitor is not the most accurate but I am hoping to see a downward trend. I might buy a set of scales and start weighing myself as well just to see how that goes.
I've been eating pretty badly today. Breakfast was an apple, 2 plums and 6 oatcakes but lunch was a big white bap with butter because there was nothing else left in the canteen and I didn't bring anything with me! Well that won't happen again.
Yesterday evening I went to Holland & Barrett and bought organic spirulina powder - it was recommended as a great natural appetite suppressant and metabolism booster and is full of minerals and phytochemicals.
Well, the guy in the shop advised me to mix it with sugar free cordial or whatever (not just water). I wondered why. The reason? IT TASTES AWFUL!!!!!! Really awful. I had a glass at lunchtime and nearly threw up. There's a month's supply in the jar so I am going to use it all (as it cost me £13!) and see if it works. But it really mings.I was tempted to try Hoodia instead but it is so darn expensive. I will report on how I get on with it (just call me the forum guinea pig).
Going out for dinner with OH tonight, will have to make healthy choices! I also intend to do a lot of walking over the weekend to make up for it...Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Dinner last night was really nice, I stuck to sensible options (and had a nibble of OH's after dinner cheese - naughty!). I had one glass of wine and then 3 gin and slimline tonics afterwards, I thought I did ok! We walked to and from the restaurant as well, around an hour in total.
Took some more of the spirulina this morning, OMG it really is minging. I gagged and had to drink about 4 glasses of water to get rid of the taste! The guy recommended the powder as it's absorbed quicker, but I would go for the tablets next time. It says that you can take the 3g all at once (like I did) or in smaller amounts throughout the day, so I might try doing that. It is high in protein and is supposed to suppress your appetite, and I have to say, I definitely did notice that I ate less at dinner yesterday so maybe it is worth it (hmmm).
I signed up for 5 days' worth of free hoodia from that purehoodia website too (well, you have to pay £1.95 P&P) and it arrived this morning, so I'm going to try that as well. I've had toast for breakfast (not very healthy at all but I had no milk for porridge, silly me) so will take the first one before my next meal. This afternoon I will go for a long walk and plan a sensible dinner later.
Who has bathroom scales and are they a good idea? I looked at Argos - they have basic dial scales for £2.89 but they also have WW scales reduced to £17ish which measure your body fat and body water as well. Hard to decide!
