  • That sounds really good to me, lots of f&v and fibre...

another mad busy day today, meeting to meeting all day, had a big scone that I did not need mid morning as well as breakfast, then a big pasta lunch (tomato based could have been worse but big portion!), bruschetta for tea with an oatcake with banana and peanut butter for afters, now having another couple of oatcakes with some leftover brie and half a glass of wine. Did get a bit of a walk in but too busy for gym.

Tomorrow is manic as well but Friday calms down a bit. Fingers crossed I can do better!

Hey, you did ok! Tomato based sauces are good, could have been a lot worse! It's hard when you're busy to eat well so be proud.

Yesterday's dinner was a really lovely salmon fillet with potatoes, onions and cauliflower, yummy!!!! Salmon is quite fattening I know, but all those omega 3s are good for you. I had a couple of oatcakes afterwards.

This morning has been bad! Two large slices of wholemeal toast with beans and 4 oat biscuits already!! I really DO NOT need the biccies. Must do better this afternoon. I have a tasty organic lentil soup in with me, only 200 cals so that will be a healthy lunch. I'm going to a friend's later so that'll be an extra hour's walk on top of my normal hour - she's cooking though, and she is an amazing cook so it'll no doubt be a stodge and wine fest!!! Hmm. Ah well, the healthy lunch and the walking will make up for it. And I have kiwis and oranges in with me for snacking.

    I had a Twix. :embarasse

Well, half a Twix but I am eyeing up the other half.

I had the organic soup for lunch (with no toast on the side) and an apple, and was feeling so virtuous... then my workmate came in with a Twix for me. I refused but she insisted, so I had half of it.

Ah well. Put it behind me and all that.

  • I'm starting to think I should just give up the ghost - madness today, again meeting to meeting with hardly time to draw breath but enough to munch my way through a big ploughman's sandwich and several oatcakes and peanut butter. And no exercise again. I do get some breathing space tomorrow though so will def make it to the gym.

No idea about dinner tonight, DH wants to eat out and I don't think I persuaded him otherwise so...will depend where we end up. Realistically probably pizza. Might manage to get him to half and half with a salad though but resisting the wine will be another issue.

And am cooking for friends on Saturday night so that will be another challenge although a very nice one :)

You did v well eating only half a twix. Put the other half in the bin now before it calls to you any more (even if it is against MS rules :)

I ate the other half, my MSE tendencies won!

And the dinner my friend cooked was pretty fattening. Bread, oils and cheese to start, then pasta with pancetta and a creamy sauce, then cheesecake for dessert. And a bottle of wine between us! I only ate a forkful of the cheesecake, I persuaded her to share a slice with me. I was totally stuffed halfway through the main course, I think my stomach is getting used to eating better food and less stodge!

Anyway. I walked there and back, which took almost 90 mins. So not too bad as an occasional treat. Although I'm eating out tonight as well (Italian) so am going to have to make sensible choices! I'll keep my fingers crossed fo you if you do the same for me.

Forgot to mention - my digestive system is working overtime with all this fibre! TMI maybe... :D

    Today's food:

4 oatcakes, one with peanut butter
    2 oat biscuits
Three slices of wholemeal toast with baked beans
    2 chocolates (nnnnggggggg)

Don't give up, by the way!!! Get back on track over the weekend and you will feel renewed determination.

Good luck with tomorrow's dinner, by the way. What's on the menu?

  • Not totally given up...but not totally on the wagon either alas :(

Had a chunk of french bread for lunch with cheese, tomato and onions but resisted the mayo :) Also mid morning oatcakes and PB since I was racing to a meeting and wasn't sure when I'd get lunch. I'm doing HM pizza for tea which isn't usually too fattening, I try to be mean with the cheese these days.

For tomorrow night I'm doing three bean chilli (which I need to google actually) with tortillas, cheese green salad and guacamole. Oh and potato salad although I won't have any of it. And an apple cake (as opposed to apple pie) for dessert probably with custard. I thought I might have hummous and celery/carrots for a light starter but I haven't really decided yet.

I'm not doing so great on the exercise front though...keep wakening at 5am thinking about work which is not good. Although i know it's just a busy time and by mid-Nov it will all have settled so fair enough.

Hope you enjoy your italian tonight and well done on keeping the cheesecake eating to a minimum! I know what you mean about your system getting used to better types of food, I decided to totally stop on the chocolate front and it's surprising that I don't miss it at all! At least that's one good habit I've managed to keep up :)

Hope you have a good weekend!
  • Hey Tara how did your weekend go? Was the italian good?

I had a sort of neutral weekend - didn't do anything too terrible but unfortunately didn't do anything too good either - no gym trips and very little walking. Truth be told last week was so mad (and this week will be too!) that I figured I'd earned a rest! Fingers crossed when I weigh in I won't have gained, that's about as good as it's likely to get. Although I did make it to the gym again this morning :)

Such a nice day I might manage a walk at lunchtime if it holds too :)

I had the same sort of weekend. Not much exercise apart from a walk yesterday and some dancing on Saturday night. I ate out a couple more times but managed to stick to just a main course! Overall it wasn't too bad, but could have been healthier. Not much fibre either, so my digestive system has calmed down!!

Well done on the gym. I am off for a walk in a minute too.

    Today's food so far:

    one brazil nut
beans and lean bacon on one slice of white toast
    3 oatcakes
    one mini stick of liquorice
one square of Green & Black's dark choc

Far too much!!! I have homemade carrot and parsnip soup in with me for lunch and am going to have it without bread to make up for this morning...

It's just started to rain, argh! I'm going out anyway, got to get some fresh air.

p.s. the Italian meal was lovely.

This afternoon was a bit better. I walked for about an hour and a quarter, then came back and had my soup without bread (it was very filling anyway). I also had two oranges... and 4 oat biscuits! So overall not bad, but I could do with snacking less. I need to improve in that department. Very pleased with the walking though, so much more satisfying than a trip round the shops eh! That's a total of two and a quarter hours' walking, including to and from work. :D

OH is cooking tonight again, I wonder what calorific feast he will be serving up, please don't let it be too fattening...
