  • Hey guys

Tough day today. Had a very bad night's sleep (did anyone hear the rain about 5 this morning?) as a result of which didn't make the gym. But I did persuade myself to go for my slightly overdue smear test which I always dread. And I did several work things I've been putting off for ages and it all went pretty well. But tiredness and doing depressing things is always a trigger for eating for me and I was at a meeting tonight where they were serving muffins and ... the rest is history. I'm now trying to figure out whether I should have a snack to sort myself out for the gym in the morning or whether I should go on to bed and hope I won't be hungry...

At least my main meals were reasonably healthy although there was def too much of them  scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast for lunch and couscous with roast peppers, onions and feta cheese for dinner. And a few oatcakes with peanut butter and bananas in between times, as well as some other fruit.

I'm weighing myself tomorrow and suspect I won't have lost anything. Ah well.

Wow did you lop off an arm or something? :D

    Well done!

I'm considering myself lucky to have stayed the same :(
  • No I think it's just because I only started, you know how when you start eating healthy you drop a few pounds in the first week then it slows down?
  • I'm shamelessly resurrecting this thread now that I'm back off holidays. I did not enjoy being so overweight when I was away - puffing uphill in the heat really takes it out of you and my ankles kept swelling up like little balloons which was uncomfortable as well as unsightly. I am NOT going on holiday at this weight again!!

In good post-holiday news, I still avoided sweet things when I was away and think I might finally have lost my taste for them - although I have no intention of trying them to check! I also managed to get a good bit of walking done (I reckon about 3-4 miles a day, some very uphill) which helped reduce the damage done. But still ate like a small horse and drank too much as well, although the swollen ankles persuaded me to moderate myself a bit on this. When I got back the scales showed a gain of 3lb although I think I need to let my body settle till next week to know for sure.

Anyway my goal is between now and christmas to lose 1lb a week. Anyone else want to join me on a christmas challenge?

OK, I'm back. Well done to the rest of you! I was doing ok for a couple of weeks and then fell off the wagon a little over the weekend. Now feeling very fat and miserable, just getting into my winter clothes and they're all tighter than when I put them away 6 months ago! :(

Anyway, nothing for it but some good ol' fashioned determination to get back on track. Yes to the Christmas challenge, 1lb a week would be great. I really need to exercise more, even with the dark evenings. I already walk for an hour a day but that doesn't seem to be enough. A run or brisk walk a couple of lunchtimes a week would really help too. And no snacking on rubbish. Help me get motivated...

Hey Tara, was starting to feel a bit lonely. Although a bit of a fraud too, I've done nothing but eat today, DH is away and I had a really busy weekend and was tired and fed up. No excuse though. And I've got indigestion now which will serve me right. All healthy stuff but unfortunately too much of it.

Yep I've got to get me a dose of that determination too. Made it to the gym this morning but felt really icky so only did half an hour and came home. Gonna get to bed early tonight and hopefully get back in the routine tomorrow....which is good since it's my day for weighing myself.

    Let's go for it!

Yes! Let me know how the weigh in goes.

How do you fit the gym into your routine? Do you prefer going before, during or after work?

I go first thing, if I think about it at all I talk myself out of it :) I nearly did that this morning but the thought of having to come on here and admit it kept me on the straight and narrow, although I did end up going a bit later than normal and had to leave at the same time so did less. But I ONLY ate my breakfast rather than breakfast+snack which I have been doing the past while.

On the weigh in I'm now 12.2 or 77.1kg. So I lost .1kg since last week :) well given the week I had I'm glad to have maintained, I was away for work for a few days at one of those things where you are always having 3 course meals. And of course comfort eating cos I'm just back from hols.

    The comfort eating stops HERE!

This time next week I want to have lost at least .5kg...

    How are you getting on?

Well, so far today I have walked to work (30 mins) and eaten a peach and three oatcakes (two with peanut butter). Not bad! The tight trousers are concentrating my mind! :o

    I must weigh myself...
