Belfastgirl, you're doing so well! Good for you girl, your approach is working well for you :T You're just right not missing the coffee mornings, it's good to have a little treat like that to look forward to.

The book I'm reading is quite different from Gillian's (she's a lil too hippy quackery for me). It's based more on the science of nutrition, with him being an MD. He advises people who have a lot of weight to loose to limit their grains as well as carbs and be careful of even the healthy oils.

I'm in the process of finding a suitable walking aid to help me get out for little walks so hopefully (if this woeful weather would dry up!) I'll be able to get out and about more soon

Keep up the good work girls
The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn
  • Hi can anyone suggest which digital bathroom scales offer best value for money ie accuracy and cost, and are available in the Belfast area [ not too worried about how they look].Apologies if this query is off topic.

Sorry, I have no idea but you might want to try the Argos website. HTH.

  • I'm hoping to lose a stone in the next month for a trip my husband and I are going on at the end of September. I managed it before, but then was put on medication that made me crave carbs (I only found out that was a side effect by researching online after gaining 20lbs in 5 months on them!!)

    So 9st 11lbs to 8st 11lbs in 30 days... here we go!
  • Re the scales question, would Argos maybe be best bet? Might be worth doing a search on the health and beauty board too and seeing if anything showed up?

anyone still going? Starting to feel like I'm struggling a bit, the exercise is still going fine but the eating less so :( - still eating healthily but TOO MUCH! I am feeling better for the bit I lost I still would like to lose at least another lb before I head off next week. DH is away this coming week too which sometimes can be a trigger for me to start eating the wrong stuff. And will be busy at work given that I'm taking some leave.

I'm also really trying to think about trying to keep up some semblance of eating sensibly when I'm away. If I can keep up with avoiding cheese and chocolate I'll be pleased. And I do want to moderate the drinking as well...it's totally wasted calories...so preferably a glass of wine with dinner only :) We shall see.

    anyone else still in?

On the bright side I had to have a cholesterol test which has come in normal so the healthy eating is paying off.
  • I'm still going but my ongoing medical issues mean I'm bloated as a beach ball at the mo and haven't shifted a pound :(
Currently on 2 pots of activia a day to see if that helps and eating lots of fruit and veg and have cut back on red meat to once a week.

Hi Arkonite, hope you're feeling better soon. I'm loading up on the yoghurt myself at the minute, DH accidentally bought me the organic greek one from M&S rather than the basic low fat I asked for and I've had it with almost everything since then :) Probably not good for the weightloss though I had dropped another lb this morning. DH left for the week today and instead of doing my usual comfort eating I scrubbed the bathroom (it REALLY needed it) and went to the gym. And had salads for tea. Although I have since scoffed down a full slice of HM bread and a smoothie :( but as comfort eating goes it was relatively healthy and left me feeling nice and full. DH in contrast is eating crisps and drinking wine so I feel morally superior :)

Fingers crossed for a good week.
  • chicken salad sarnie for lunch tomorrow and I'll try to eat a yoghurt in the morning for my breakfast. I'm not good at eating in the morning on weekdays, I'm up and away so early I turn very easily at food. Coffee is about the only thing I can manage before 6am!
