    Hello all.

I am feeling a bit better now thanks. Lots of sleep and NO BOOZE at the weekend, but I did eat quite a lot.

Back on the wagon(ish) today! I've done an hour's walking and had the following to eat:

200ml low fat natural yogurt with muesli
    3 brazil nuts
    6 oatcakes
    3 Nairn's oat biscuits
beans on two slices of wholemeal bread, olive spread
    2 chocolates
    1 apple

Not too bad, could have done without the chocolates and the biscuits (but at least they were oat based - excuses excuses). And no peanut butter on the oatcakes - I know it's good for you but it's so fattening. I couldn't justify it after the chocs.

Tonight's dinner - no idea yet, but it will be something healthy and tasty! Yeah!

lilmissclass, I echo what belfastgirl23 said. You need to learn to cook! It is very rewarding, tasty and cheaper than ready meals and takeaways. Do you live with your boyfriend? You should try to encourage each other. Perhaps cook together, or take it in turns and try new recipes on each other. Start simple. Let's see if we can come up with some good recipe websites. Bargain Books have tons of cookbooks for a couple of quid each - have a look through them, some are very basic and easy to follow. They have a series called Easy Italian, Easy Vegetarian etc which look good and are only £2 each.

Can I just say while I'm here that I am totally in love with Valentine Warner from WHat To Eat Now, I know you will probably think !!!!!!! Maybe it's his enthusiasm for food, hahaha!

belfastgirl23, bruschetta and Tuscan bean stew - yum!!! Can I come round for dinner? Hope your weigh in goes well, I will have my fingers crossed for you. You're doing so well.

  • I've had

about 40g homemade muesli and low fat yoghurt (about 80mls)
    three tangerines
    an apple
    a banana
x4 pieces of bruschetta (hangs head in shame)
    One oatcake with peanut butter.

V healthy but I did NOT need the fourth piece of bruschetta, stupidly I left a fourth piece of bread out of the freezer *just in case*. Won't make that mistake again. I reckon yours sounds pretty healthy too Tara

Heading home now to have a snack - will save the bean stew for DH arriving home around 9. i'm debating more muesli or more oatcakes - got class tonight and don't want anything too heavy - I find it hard enough to stay awake as it is.

And got 20 mins walking in at lunchtime :) Might even manage another little bit on the way to class too....rain permitting

And LMC bean recipes are really pretty forgiving...hard to go too far wrong so they're good ones to start off on :)

Wow, your food today sounds very impressive belfastgirl! Well done. Also congrats on the exercise. You are doing so well. What time is your weigh in tomorrow?

I had a healthy dinner, I blanched the leaves of a small cabbage and fried it in the juices of two slices of bacon (rind trimmed off and no oil added to the pan), then made some nice gravy and poured it over the bacon and cabbage. I'd intended to have a couple of baby pots with it but I had none left when I got home and was too lazy to go back to the supermarket!! I also had another two brazil nuts and an orange.

How did you make the bean stew, can we have a recipe??? :D

  • Not exactly my bean stew recipe, it's a creation of Paulie girl's - see here

I was just thinking tonight with a bit of chilli and a bit more stock you could make it a chilli bean soup :)

I think you were a lot healthier than me, my snack turned into a big chunk of brie and four oatcakes and an apple :) Comfort eating because I was having to force myself out to my class. Did do another bit of a walk though.

I did like cabbage and bacon when I was a meateater :)

Opening a bottle of wine for DH now, going to take all my resolve to resist...

This morning has been mixed! I have had my usual half-hour walk and have eaten the following:

    3 oat biscuits
1/3 tin of beans on 2 slices of wholemeal bread, olive spread
    2 oatcakes
    1 Fox's glacier mint

Not too bad, but the biscuits were unnecessary...

I am thinking of making pork chops for dinner with veg...

Lunch (how exciting is this) was an orange, veg soup and wholemeal toast. I have some bananas and plums to keep me going for the afternoon. And I went for an hour's walk at lunchtime.

    **proud**

  • Well done!

A bit of a mixed bag for me so far - did make it to the gym but was late so didn't manage as much as usual. Muesli for breakfast and an apple, a banana and an oatcake to keep me going. Ended up with a big pasta bake for lunch, no time to get something healthy organised although I did ask for extra veg! and have the bean stew remains for tea :) thank god cos I don't think I could face cooking. things pretty hectic at work, didn't even manage a walk today, just wolfed food down between meetings...

And I didn't resist the wine last night sadly but I only had about a quarter of a glass.

In good news I lost half a pound last week which considering the amount I ate is a miracle! Maybe slow and steady can win the race after all....

Good for you! Only a quarter of a glass of wine, sure that's nothing at all!!

The pasta bake sounds ok, what was in it? Unless it was covered in cream and cheese, I'm sure it was perfectly healthy.

And well done on the weight loss, go you! That's great. I really must get a set of scales. Although I know when I'm losing weight and my target is to get into my skinny clothes, so that's probably as good as scales...

I have just had an apple and two oatcakes. That's all the eating till dinner, then no snacking (promise). I'll get another half-hour walk in on the way home.

Today's food (hope I can remember it all!)

    Two brazil nuts
    Beans on wholemeal toast
    4 oatcakes
    2 oat biscuits
    Soup and wholemeal bread
    1 chocolate
    1 apple
    2 oranges
    1lb strawberries

Blimmin' hell! That actually sounds like an awful lot. I know it's all healthy stuff apart from the chocolate, but still. OH is cooking this evening so who knows what dinner will be...

I managed an hour's walk at lunchtime - added to the hour walking to/from work, I'm doing ok today. :T I am not seeing any effect on my bod yet though!
