:DThanks for the laugh girls and welcome Tara - I work away a lot of the time too and had a really nice Turkish meal in Manchester - with wine - on Wednesday night. It has thrown me off a bit and I haven't been counting points since then. But I know I have to get back on the points tomorrow otherwise it's a slippy road and only goes one way. Enjoy the scones belfast girl - bet they are lovely.

Another fresh start. I made some biscuits for a friend yesterday and of course had to sample them :( they were the infamous hobnobs from the OS board but made as peanut hobnobs and I have to say they were delish. But no more, managed to get rid of the end of them so back to normal now!!

I made it to the gym this morning (yay) and will walk an hour today should it kill me, although the risks of getting washed away are probably greater...

and I haver very nice salad stuff in for tea. Just trying to figure out a healthy lunch now.

Hope you guys are all doing okay. I am going to try to come up with a list of reasons for losing weight to post here later today, just to get the motivation going and give me something to look at when I'm having a weak moment. Anyone want to join me?

    Me, good idea!!

Hello belfastgirl23, sassycece and anyone else who may be reading.

I've been very good today and yesterday, ate good stuff and walked a fair bit. I read an interesting article (will post link if I find it) in the Sunday Times about how diets don't work, i.e. actual calorie restriction = famine mode = more weight gain etc, and how MORE EXERCISE is yer only man for losing weight and keeping it off! And it did make sense to me - I think I've been exercising less rather than eating more and that has caused the weight to creep on.

So I am going to focus more on calories out than calories in. I'm still going to stay off the chocolate etc, but am not going to starve myself (ha ha - as if), just exercise a lot more.

    Thoughts?

I do know what you mean that diets don't work. But at the same time eating chocolate and pizza every day doesn't either :( I think if you're basically a healthy eater then upping the exercise is a really good strategy. But if you're the kind of person who can't cope with half a cake sitting in your kitchen then you do unfortuantely have to watch what you eat. But I've never been a one for starving myself, more so trying to be hungry for meals.

Didn't manage my list yesterday, got into tidying some things up and got distracted. But will get there.

And made the gym again this morning. Managed my hour walking yesterday although only by scraping together every time I walked somewhere...I did do 35 mins last night though which is the first time I've been out for a walk at night in ages....

Hope you are all feeling in fine form today...

**edit** still didn't get to that list and am now heading out for a pizza  but not something I can exactly get out of...will resist the desserts :T and go easy on the wine ;)

I agree with the bit in bold - obviously it is not an excuse to eat pies all day long! :D But I am generally a healthy eater, my meals are usually very healthy, I just have the odd moment of weakness where chocolate/crisps are concerned. If I could cut out the snacking (and reduce my portions) I'd be fine on the food front. But I have made the link between doing less exercise recently and gaining weight! More sweating needed! In a way it takes the pressure off watching my food intake and the exercise is a natural appetite suppressant.

Another good day today, no chocolate, just three square meals and a 90 minute walk. I did have a glass of red wine though!

Well done on your progress BG, especially going to the gym!

Hi girls, it looks like there are only the three of us on this thread - where has everyone gone - are they now on a thread for successful slimmers or maybe just gone on their hols? Thanks very much for the link to the Times article, Tara - my sister had told me about it but I hadn't thought to go online - of course, it's music to my ears (and my sisters) but you are both right - you can't do an hour's exercise and then eat everything you want to and still lose weight - I guess it's back to that all adage "everything in moderation" - and I'm not good at moderation. However I feel quite positive at the minute and am really going to try to eat healthily without starving myself (because I then lose control and pig-out on Chocolate Fingers) and keep up with the exercise. So here's hoping it will have some impact and be easier than my WW 17 points a day. Sounds like you both have a good attitude at the minute so best of luck and keep up the good work.

Just popping in to say hi ahead of going to donegal for the weekend - gonna try to walk as much as possible to offset the mega eating that I always seem to do there. Things have been going good on the exercise front but the eating front is still letting me down a bit. PMS isn't helping either of course, probalby a good thing to combine this with going away since I'd end up eating too much in both cases.

Hope you are all doing okay too, might not be able to post for a few days depending on whether there's internet...

17 points a day, sassy - that's hardly anything! I take it you don't have much to lose?

Good luck with Donegal belfastgirl23 - it's a good place for walks so you'll be fine! I'm going to Dublin for the weekend with a couple of pals, will post if I can. Hope y'all have a good 12th weekend!
