Alex - all I can recommend is writing to them and complaining and pointing out the logic in what they are doing. The other drastic action is to take them to court yourself I believe there are template letters on the national debtline website for writing to people who refuse to stop interest.
It could help to add up all the charges they have made and all the payments you have made and say you feel they are exploiting you. Also maybe look into this link
http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/consumer_credit/oft664.pdf
See if they have broken any guidelines and definately request that they refund the interest and charges back, point out how long they have known about your difficulties and how the courts would frown on them making your financial matters harder.
My theory is its a stamp and its worth a shot, take your time and see what you can come up with - nothing ventured nothing gained!0 -
It's just another example of how creditors deal differently with no consistency. We owe them about £9.5 spread on two cards and before we started dmp, the payments were up to date, so I don't know if that makes a difference?
That is what I am hoping. We are up to date with every debt at the mo, haven't missed a single payment, which is why I want to start a DMP asap, I am hoping they may be nicer......I can but hope......."Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, except backwards and in high heels"

I was just wondering, I did post a separate message but I think it has got lost lol. I have seen a few people posting about having problems with Lloyds TSB. Lloyds TSB are our main creditors and we have quite a few loans with them. Can or will they reject the DMP?
Lloyds are our main creditors, they are a pain but a harmless one they just don't know what they are doing. They make out they never see letters. Sometimes you get a letter that looks like its from a solicitor on grey paper (they are just another department within Lloyds so nothing to really worry about)
We had two credit cards one in hubbys name one in mine both those accepted quite quick. One said they were stopping interst but continued to charge it. I complained and got it all refunded.
The longest running one I had was an overdraft that took me 10 months to get them to accept payment and stop interest. Eventually I wrote a letter of complaint and got accepted payments, a payment book, case of wine and interest refunded back.
They are all bark no bite but sometimes you feel a bit head banging against a wall. Don't let them get you down, come in here with whatever they say and we will share our experiences.
Basically don't worry about them but they can make you growl and moan a bit!0 -
Hi everyone, well DH set up at simple bank account last night with the co-op and sat and done all the DMP letters with a small payment to the creditors as well. Sorry if I am being thick but do we just have to wait now to see if they accept? DH has been talking to CCCS but I want to get things clear in my head (if only that was possible!)DMP Support Thread Number 1860

Basically what happens is regardless of whether they accept or not they get the offered payment. Some take a couple of months before they realise no more is coming out.
Sadly there is no set procedure and even the same company can deal with two customers totally different. There are no set rules as to when you get default notices, interest stopped etc. Its a bit take each day as it comes but this is the most stressful it gets. Usually the worry leading up to a DMP is worse than implementing one.
If you are worried at any point ring CCCS or pop in here and see if anyone has experienced the same.
Its been a hell of a week for you must seem a bit whirlwind! Try to relax over the weekend, you have done your best and come a long way!0 -
Thanks RD that is what I have said to DH he has had a while to get used to it as he knew what was going on, I kept asking if we were okay and could I draw out some money/go shopping etc and he would say yes very rarely was it oh we might have to wait, so I have only just found out the true picture and to make things worse we have paid for a holiday with the rest of the family (in-laws) to go to Florida!!! I am going to work out a budget for that this weekend I do have some spending money saved and everything is paid for ie tickets etc so it will just be food.
Thanks again for the support I think I may look at doing a little diary thread on here just to get my head around things, anyway back to the cleaning! I must have so much nervous energy the house will be gleaming normally don't want to touch it but I cannot sit still at the moment LOLDMP Support Thread Number 1860 -
I would have a good look round the house even ask the children if they have any old toys etc to sell for spending money. It is amazing and quite good for the soul clearing out and getting profits for it!
We have a few naughty bits this year too long weekend in September and erm yes a new puppy coming *coughts* not very DFW! What the hell its life and meant for living!0 -
Humpph!! Well so much for me saying it was quiet on the creditor front! Sure that's always tempting fate! Have this morning received claim forms from Walllers Solicitors on behalf of NR. Don't know if anyone can help me with a couple of questions?
The arrears that they state are wrong. The default notice they sent required two payments of which I paid one, so the arrears to which they are referring are incorrect - I don't suppose this matters?
I was trying to find out when we completed on this loan as I didn't think we had been allowed the correct cooling off period and it seems I was right. We signed the agreement on 26 March and received the money on 30 March - again does this matter?
I guess it might be better tio post this as a thread on the main board and ask for help?0
