Good to hear from you loopy glad you are trying to keep positive, its tough enough embarking on a DMP let alone what you have put up with - keep at it!
Maz - I have pmd you a letter I was too lazy to put it in this thread because it meant blanking out a load of security bits and bobs so apologies but let me know if you don't get it!
Angels - my debt might as well be 100k going to take about 20 years to clear at current rate, I could be down to about 19 ish now I think - but who knows what the future brings could do it in a smaller time!0 -
Hi
I have my phone meeting with CCCS on Tuesday and can't wait to get this thing going. I thought I could do it all on my own but the ostrich in me just couldn't open the mail and deal with it as it arrived...... ccj's escalated and emergency steps now to be taken!
I contacted CCCS about 3 years ago and did as much everything i was advised at the time (basic bank accounts etc). they couldn't put me on a DMP at that time as we did not earn enough to even cover our basic outgoings - and constantly juggling! thankfully, I have a much better job now and have stopped the payments to Crapquest (bullies). I now have funds to put to the priority payments. Don't know how long this is going to take me but I happier than i have been in a very long time, to be taking control of this rather than have it control me. I've even started to answer the phone again - I fielded calls all the time, but now I KNOW I can deal with anything.
Just a quick question to you guys - when I am putting together my budget, do you know how much I can allow for food shopping?LBM 10 JUNE 07June 07 - £68K May 08 apx £57K MORTGAGE £212KJune Grocery Challenge - Budget £445 Actual £17.40PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS0 -
Hi all,
Not been on for a while, but i'm in work and thought i'd log in. Well, I got a letter yesterday from Egg and they have asked for the total amount of my credit card back, and have given me until the 6th of June to pay it - obviously i cant. Its a default notice, soooo, is this a normal thing to expect from them? Should I be really worried? (I'm not!) What will happen next? Any ideas?
I photocopied the letter and have sent the original off to Payplan today, I thought that best. I have paid my first monthly instalment on my DMP, but obviously Egg havent acknowledged that.
Any advice?

Hi Rugby,
My advice is don't worry about it too much. Egg did the same to me. Also tried calling a lot (I didn't take many of the calls). If my experience is anything to go by you've got a lot worse letters to come - however, After about 6 or 7 weeks of hassling me they eventually contacted Payplan, accepted my payment and have been very quiet since. The only thing I did was every single letter I got, I just sent a letter saying "Please contact Payplan".
They've been one of my better creditors really!
On a different subject......
Lloyds - even though they are now in my good books for having at least 1 competent member of staff - made me laugh today. When I spoke to one of their less nice staff last week I was asked to return my cheque book and cashpoint card. I stated I didn't have a chequebook to return. So guess what arrived in the post today :rotfl:LBM : March 2008

Payplan allow £320 per month in their budget. I think that is banking code guidelines.
So 80 x £3.99 bottles of wine or you could budget for food and try to save some.

This is the industry standard accepted amounts for expenditure, remember first time make sure you are more generous as you need to have a stable DMP and can always increase later!0 -
Hi all
Hope you're all doing well.
Can anyone advise on me???
Just started with CCCS (Hooray) after leaving Baines & Ernst (Boo!).
Just before I left B&E a creditor Halifax Credit card started to charge me intrest on my amount owing plus late payment charges even though they were receiving the same payments as normal on the same date.
Over the last few months I've kept my payments ontime at £34 but being charged £140 approx in intrest and £12 for being over my £6'950.00 credit limit (due to their charges) PLUS £12 for late payments which as I said have always been paid on the same date since I started my plan.
I've just received my latest statement and my balance is now £7'111.93.
The intrest is split into Cash withdrawls: £31.16 (22.90% p.a) & Purchases: £81.30 (19.95% p.a). The another £12 for being over my limit & £12 late payment fee. Odd as I have used the card or even have it any more!!
Surely they cannot be allowed to do this. By the time the account is passed to a debt collection agency I'll be nearly at £9000 which £3000 more than when I joined B&E last year!!
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Rugby, Egg did the same to me then sold my account to a DC who are absolutely fine to deal with. HSBC said they would be doing the same about a month ago. Nothing as yet. Don't worry - be happy!0

I was just wondering, I did post a separate message but I think it has got lost lol. I have seen a few people posting about having problems with Lloyds TSB. Lloyds TSB are our main creditors and we have quite a few loans with them. Can or will they reject the DMP?Lightbulb moment: 14 May 2008Debt free date: April 2014DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 188Nightowl Member No 160

Hi Just Me,
I have a credit card and a large overdraft with LloydsTSB, they account for about 25% of my debt.
The credit card was no problem at all, accepted my DMP after the first payment. The overdraft was a nightmare and they were by far my worst creditor.
They continually sent me letters. On the phone I either got someone in a foreign call centre who continuously went round in circles demanding I must pay until I hung up or I got someone rude and arrogant in the UK who kept denying that they were receiving letters and said that Payplan must contact them (Payplan had contacted them and had received a confirmation of balance back). I never had a single response to any of my letters despite sending them Recorded delivery in response to every letter they sent me.
This had been going on for 10 weeks then on Monday I got fed up and decided to call up and give them a bit of grief - However I got through to a foreign call centre again, but the lady was one of the nicest people I've had to speak to out of all my creditors. She was eager to help me sort out an arrangement, froze interest and charges and was so helpful.
So they're not bad if you strike lucky with who you speak to. I did a lot of searching through forums about Lloyds and it looks like they usually accept in the end.LBM : March 2008
