Hi Pinksparkle
I completed CCCS online but was sent a pack with a letter to send to my creditors, I am now just waiting for the real pack to come through, you know the one with the payment slip in so I can make my first payment at the PO. Don't worry I am confused too
Anyway I have found this one from National Debtline website, I suppose this would be ok to send at least then your creditors will know what is going on/going to happen, whether they acknowledge your letter is another matter, don't think they do much until you have missed your normal payments once or twice, it seems the nirm from what others have said about creditors.
Anyway you could try sending this if you haven't received your first pack through yet from CCCS......Mr A N Other
Dear Sir/Madam
Re:- Account/Reference Number 4563210025897412
We are writing to inform you that we are seeking advice and assistance from the Consumer Credit Counselling Service regarding our current financial difficulties.
We are finding it increasingly difficult to meet your monthly payment request so please accept the enclosed postal order for £?? as a token gesture of goodwill.
We would appreciate if you could hold any action on the above account for a period of at least 28 days.
Also, during this period, could you please freeze interest and/or any other charges accruing on the above account.
We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Yours faithfully
As I say whether they acknowledge the dilemma you are telling them about is another matter but at least you have informed them of your situation.
Good luck

Hi Everyone!
I Just really want to say thank you so much for this amazing site. Now that I’ve finally pulled my head out of the sand and admitting I cant carry on this way, it all got to me a little bit yesterday. I’m not proud to admit it, but I had a bit of a cry alone in my bathroom. Which isn’t something I do alot being the big burly guy that I am!
Anyway, I spent most of the day reading through this thread and was really encouraged and it didn’t seem so bad.
I’ve just completed a self assessment online on CCCS and my heart sank when they recommended my best course of action was bankruptcy. (I’m £17,000 in debt and would instantly loose my job if I became bankrupt.) However I realised I had taken off my pension payment twice so when I re ran the figures they recommended a DMP. I’ve now sent off for a pack and I’m looking at repaying over about 4 years assuming my creditors freeze interest. Whilst this is long haul I know. I’m really looking forward to being in a position before I’m 30 to start living again! I also hope to be in a position to clear my debts faster than this as I’m taking some exams with work which should get me a sizable pay rise (assuming I pass!!)
I’m paid again next week, into my normal bank account (I’ve applied for a basic NatWest account as they are unrelated to any of my creditors, but haven’t received my account details yet.) Whilst I can afford the minimum payments needed (just, hence the DMP) I need to pay for some work done on my car to pass its MOT. Do you think it would be a good idea to use the template above and send this onto my creditors with a token payment for the month?
Again, thanks for this wonderful site and making me feel less of a failure.
