Simbalou - well done on making the extra money. There are a couple of things you could do:
1. You could pay the extra into CCCS to divide amongst your creditors
2. You could save it for a while and then ask your smaller creditors for full and final settlement figures. That way you could maybe get rid of a couple of creditors and then your CCCS payment will be divide amongst the remaining creditors.
3. You could save it for a while in a high interest account so that it is there for a rainy day - boiler breaking down, car repairs etc.
Yummy-Mummy, welcome to the board. It does get easier. Like you I feel guilty about kids things too. I have in fact just posted on another section of the site tonight about the kids policies. I had those £20 a month things for them and then stopped paying them 1.5 years ago as I couldn't afford it. I do have a bit now that I could be putting in so am hoping to start that again.
Have you thought of entering competitions? I do loads of comps. I enter the kids in loads. I get a fair few prizes which I keep towards birthdays, christmas etc. It really helps.0 -

Do you think we will ever have a decent credit file ever again???
Pinksparkle
I'm sure we will otherwise what would be the point eh? I hope after all this is over we won't be making the same mistakes again.
Just send token payments of a £1 and you should then have some money to put away before your plan starts. That's what I did anyway.

You could try the website http://whocallsme.com/ thats who I've been using to try and track down who's phoning me. It diesn't always give you the detail, but the calls I've been receiving recently (as above) have all shown up as Either Accident Claims or debt Advice companies.
It looks like it could be GE money. Why do they keep hanging up when I do answer though? I usually try to ignore the phone but when I pluck up the courage to answer it it goes dead.
They sent me a letter threatening court action if I didn't pay the full amount the other day so it's probably regarding that but I don't get why they hang up on me. They call all the time including Sundays.
GE Money are one the few creditors which haven't stopped interest yet. They were really good when I had trouble before and reduced my payments and stopped interest but not this time. I guess £5 a month is to little a payment for them.
Thanks for the site though Tigert, I'm going to use that to help me compile a list of the numbers that call me.

Hi,
They hang up, because they use an automated dialler, basically they predict how many agents wil be available and dial that many people. However if an agent isn't then available, they just hang up. They are very bad, they could at least play a recorded message.
I have 4 accounts with GE and after 3 months they handed them all over to CL Finance. They have been very good. They wrote and told me not to worry, just keep on paying and interest has been stopped. So far they've kept to there word.LBM : March 2008

I wish they would just get on with it, pass my debt over and stop harrassing me. I only have one with them for £780. The letter they sent me was quite scary, legal action threats etc. I'm confident that they are just threats now but it freaked me out when I opened the letter.
Thanks for the reassurance.:D

Jvic, I have 2 GE Money accounts with around £500 each on them. I am paying them £5 a month each via CCCS. They have both been passed to CL Finance. Yes they do send letter from their "pre-court division". They also never receive correspondence from CCCS. However don't worry it will get sorted, they will stop interest and they will transfer the debt to CL Finance.
I'm going to please them greatly by trying to claim back penalty charges. :rotfl:0 -

Has anyone had any success claiming back from them? (Sorry to go off topic slightly) And does anyone think it will have any impact on them accepting your DMP if you do try to claim back off them (providing they haven't already passed you to a DCA, then of course it doesn't matter)

I have a contract with Orange which is £35 a month. I have currently been cut off because I owe £88. (People can still get in touch with me, I just can't call or send texts) I am continueing to pay the £35 a month which I can afford as it is in my budget that CCCS have allowed meon my DMP. I am hoping to be able to pay a little off the orange debt over the following months but it will be a little. About £5-£10 a month. I'm a bit scared to call Orange and tell them that as I feel like a prat. £5 a month is a pathetic amount and they aren't going to be happy with that....are they??

Jvic this time last year I was desperately wanting to claim back charges but I didn't do it because I was scared of creditors. I thought that if I started trying to claim they would cancel the DMP etc. However one year on I realise that even if they do cancel they aren't going to get any more money as they are getting what I can afford. I'm only starting the reclaim process so who knows where it will go. There is a thread on the Reclaim Bank Charges forum on here about claiming on a DMP.
As for Orange have you asked them to put them on the lowest possible contract? I had issues with paying 02 at one stage and they dropped my line rental from £35 to £20 on the basis that I couldn't make outgoing calls anyway so they put me on their lowest tarrif. I would try them with the £5/£10 offer. At the end of the day you will have far larger creditors accepting small payments like this so why should Orange demand more money?0 -
Hi all,
I finally got there in the end and was always really polite and friendly to my creditors on the phone, replied to their letters and kept them informed and the good news is they've all accepted my DMP. Thats Lloyds TSB, MBNA, Nationwide, Egg, and Marbles. Two days before Egg accepted they sent me a letter saying my account had been passed to a debt collection agency, which was nice of them. MBNA have been good - they did call daily but were just after the I&E form. which when they received they accepted straight away. I sorted the two loans and overdraft out with Lloyds over the phone. The bloke was pretty cool and set me up for 6 months and then my account will be reviewed.
I feel pretty good and much tougher than when I started in April and the attitude that this site has given me of 'they can't get what I don't have' has really helped me deal with letters and calls. Fingers crossed, my 36K debts will be paid off in 5 years.
Thanks everyone for the support you've given over the last few weeks. Speak soon xx0
