Hi Rugby,
Good to hear things are going well. I had exactly the same experience with Egg - very strange.
Your DMP started at the same time as mine - looks like we'll both finish at roughly the same time aswell.
Hope it keeps going well.LBM : March 2008

Hello everyone!!
Just a quick Q really, I am havng to do a review of our DMP tomorrow with CCCS, because horrid Northern Rock have issued County Court Action against us for our debt with them, and how confusing was this, I had the paperwork back after makng an offer to them, as the CCCS advised, and it looked like they accepted the offer, but then it said to pay (the whole amount) forthwith - I rang the Court and they said that what it meant was that they accepted that we accepted that we owe the money and that they want it RIGHT NOW!!!! - Anyway, deviating from the point a lttle sorry! I am doing the review tomorrow as we now have to apply to the Court for a redetermination, our incomes have increased slightly, but with fuel, utilities and food going up we are struggling, We are ok with the amount we pay now and may be able to manage an extra tenner a month on top, but what I would like to know is how much do they 'allow' a couple with no children for food each week or month?
Any ideas?
Please let me know, our previous was £250 per month but we are probably spending £70 a week at the moment and thats on the cheap stuff. We make our own lunches for work etc, and as hubby has to go to the gym for health reasons he has to eat a lot of protein, lots of chicken, rice, pasta etc to maintain his weight.
Any advice appreciated,
Cheers

Ex-Spendaholic wrote: »Simbalou - well done on making the extra money. There are a couple of things you could do:
1. You could pay the extra into CCCS to divide amongst your creditors
2. You could save it for a while and then ask your smaller creditors for full and final settlement figures. That way you could maybe get rid of a couple of creditors and then your CCCS payment will be divide amongst the remaining creditors.
3. You could save it for a while in a high interest account so that it is there for a rainy day - boiler breaking down, car repairs etc.
Yummy-Mummy, welcome to the board. It does get easier. Like you I feel guilty about kids things too. I have in fact just posted on another section of the site tonight about the kids policies. I had those £20 a month things for them and then stopped paying them 1.5 years ago as I couldn't afford it. I do have a bit now that I could be putting in so am hoping to start that again.
Have you thought of entering competitions? I do loads of comps. I enter the kids in loads. I get a fair few prizes which I keep towards birthdays, christmas etc. It really helps.
Can you recommend any reputable competition websites? I usually do the GMTV online comps but haven't won anything yet! Could do with a bit of good luck so will defo start entering more comps!DMP MUTUAL SUPPORT THREAD MEMBER 220LBM - JUNE 2008DEBT FREE - JULY 2035DMP WITH PAYPLAN0 -
Yummy-mummy - have a look at www.loquax.co.uk. Every competition under the sun is on there. Good luck. It's a great hobby especially for the evenings when the kids are in bed and you can't go out or anything.0

I have been reading and lurking for a while, but couldn't raise the courage to admit what I have done, to myself let alone anyone else. It is just over a week since my husband found out about MY debt. He is now just coming to terms with how much I have hurt and betrayed him. I should get my pack from Payplan this week and the process of paying it all back can start.
I really admire all of you lovely people on here and I hope that I can get some of my self respect back in the not too distant future.
Please may I join the club and have a number?0 -
Hi kpwll,
Welcome! It's got to get better hasn't it? Your husband is bound to come round eventually, you are now dealing with yours debts before it gets worse so I think you've done the right thing.
I'm waiting for my pack to come through and make my first payment to cccs and I think I'll feel better once things start moving forward again. However I have just realised my child benefit gone into the wrong account this morning! First Direct are showing an available balance but I'll only know if I can withdraw it once I go to the cash machine in a minute. There was me thinking we had a nice amount of money in the bank for the following month and something always goes wrong.
Good luck and hope everything works out ok at home xDMP mutual support number 199Debt free in [strike]2025[/strike] 2018 (hopefully a lot sooner!):j Smokefree since 10pm 2/7/08 :jBaby no.3 due 29/04/20110 -

I changed my phone number just after I had contacted CCCS so I have had no phone calls whatsoever from my creditors. I know it seems a bit cowardice but I don't want to reveal all to some young kid over the phone, its too much hassle and I'd rather have letters to deal with.
I'm just waiting for my DMP pack to come through so I can make the first payment on July 1st, just can't wait to get started really. I sent the template letter to all my creditors with a £2 postal order as a goodwill gesture whether their bil was due or not just so they were informed of what was going to happen.
I received a letter from my bank loan saying thank you for my payment and if I ever needed any information/help then don't hesitate to call them, yeah right like I'm going to fall for that, they'll either want to go through a loan application with me or arrange a higher payment, they did this when I called them last year asking if they would lower my payments. Shame I didn't find this site back then I could have had my LBM a tad bit earlier tut tut!
I also received a normal looking bill from my credit card with my £2 showing as a payment on the statement but still asking for a minimum payment as usual. I will just send another £2 postal order to them. My catalogues haven't even acknowledged the template letter yet and I wondered if this is normal? I have always been a good payer, on time, right amount etc so I don't think companies really bother until you start to default on your accounts do they? Oh well I suppose I should enjoy the peace why it lasts, no doubt the letters will start coming through soon!
I wanted to say 'welcome' to new members who have joined up here, I am addicted to this site always checking out others posts and advice in between watching Big Brother (hangs head in shame, yes I am a fan!!), it sort of gets me prepared to face what's to come.
Hiya,
Im also waiting for my DMP pack and need to make some token payments, where can i get a copy of the template to send along with the token payments?

Hi all,
I finally got there in the end and was always really polite and friendly to my creditors on the phone, replied to their letters and kept them informed and the good news is they've all accepted my DMP. Thats Lloyds TSB, MBNA, Nationwide, Egg, and Marbles. Two days before Egg accepted they sent me a letter saying my account had been passed to a debt collection agency, which was nice of them. MBNA have been good - they did call daily but were just after the I&E form. which when they received they accepted straight away. I sorted the two loans and overdraft out with Lloyds over the phone. The bloke was pretty cool and set me up for 6 months and then my account will be reviewed.
I feel pretty good and much tougher than when I started in April and the attitude that this site has given me of 'they can't get what I don't have' has really helped me deal with letters and calls. Fingers crossed, my 36K debts will be paid off in 5 years.
Thanks everyone for the support you've given over the last few weeks. Speak soon xx
My debt is around the same figure as yours and i have been told that im looking at approx 5 years to clear it all, just a couple of questions really, if all your creditors accept the plan and the monthly payment extra, does this mean you wont get and CCj's aor anything???
I am concerned for when i go to remortgage in 3 years time???

Hi All been MIA for a while hope you are all okay.
We got a letter on Saturday from HSBC saying they wouldn't accept our offer on the DMP but would accept £132 per month has anyone else had any experiance of this with them?
Another question is how does an offer of full and final payment work? Don't the other creditors get funny about it?DMP Support Thread Number 1860 -
Hi Pinksparkle. Thats a really great question. First off, its brilliant when a creditor agrees to a DMP, thats what we all want. Moreover, what we 'really' want is for 'that to be that' and for the remainder of the term the creditor/s don't ask for any increase and stick to accepting a DMP. Mmm. doesn't always work that way. Creditors usually carry out a periodic review, some annually, some less than that, and a few, and goodness knows why..even over a longer period. Speaking personally therefore, I'm always ready for a letter or phone call, expecially, at the six month or twelve month time scale. To your question of CCJ's being issued when you've had a DMP agreed? Its possible of course. However, I would think that it in court you stated that a DMP has been agreed and throughout this time the creditor was OK with your payments, then why would they suddenly not be OK? I believe the court would look in your favour on that score. However.... If the creditor believes You have some spare cash, ie: you sell you house, or they see you've settled in full with another creditor, this might lead them to have a go at recovering their debt.0
