Hi I have added to you think your number was 186 (I really should write these down and not rely on my old grey matter!)

I think the first important thing to ask is do you have a bank account that is not connected to any of your creditors? If not then you need to open a new one ASAP!

Also double check here are you asking what CCCS stands for because that is the company you have gone with? If not who are you using? (I am not sure exactly what CCCS stands for! - sorry!)

I would say on your first budget you work out try to make it generous for you, it will seem like far too much because usually you have been struggling for ages on not much food, luxuries etc but it is important that you budget for everything and then things that you don't normally think about like CHristmas etc because credit is a thing of the past! You should also really start thinking about a few savings account for different occassions or maybe even an ISA (I never had an ISA until I went on a DMP now I have 3!)

If there is anything you want to know ask as it crops up usually someone round here will know.

    Hi Piggsy and Welcome.

I have a credit card with Egg. They issued a default notice to me immediately so nothing to worry about. They were quite persistent at first with calls and letters but after about 6 weeks, they gave up on me and contacted Payplan, accepted my payment and I haven't heard anything from them since. So one of my better creditors really.

Thanks for the info. I figured that it was probably standard for Egg to issue the default straightaway. I'm not too bothered about the phone calls - I don't have a landline, and don't take withheld or urecognised numbers on my mobile, so if they want to call me they'll have to leave messages on voicemail!

Am I eligible for a number (what happens when you get a number)? I don't have a dmp yet but this is the route we are hoping to take.

I am going to pluck up the courage at some point to tell you people how much we owe.

Do it in your own time, took me ages to post on here, we owe £63k and I rang the CCCS last week. They were really helpful and recommended a DMP, we also have an appointment with the CAB next week, so want to get as much info as poss before we embark on this journey. This is a really great thread. :)

Big welcome to you! If I have missed anyone else shout at me and I will respond :)

Maz1964- sorry not dealt with MBNA have you ever written to them complaining they are not helping your situation etc?

Wen3 - I would seriously consider changing your bank account there is a possibiltiy they could take money out of your account to service the card it is usually written in small print and very standard amongst banks.

Here is a list of linked banks and DCA etc

And some information on what accounts offer etc

    Thanks Rayday2:)

Well have just been shopping and went round totting everything up as I went and then paid cash, I have to say it certainly makes you think what you are buying. In a few weeks the bill should come down as we have planted a load of veg in the garden.

I would also like to say thanks to everyone on here for the welcome it is a very scary time and although DH has now told me I don't want other people to know so to be able to come on here and talk is great:)
