Thanks for that info, I was wondering about doing that as I've got two smallish debts that I could probably clear completely in a few months - I'd be happier with the larger debts getting more money thrown at them too. I'm making my first payment next week on my DMP so will be glad to finally get it under way properly.

Some interesting points on here today! Our smallest debt is £1200 overdraft OH has with NatWest. CCCS said if we get any extra money at the end of the month, due to OH's changing commission, we should save it up and pay that off first, she didn't say that we had to split it between the creditors.

I have made an appointment with the CAB for next week, OH can only make an evening appointment and they are very thin on the ground, so I am going to do a list of questions. I will also ring the CCCS again, as I need to know, with OH's commission changing every month, if we do have spare money, I want to know what is going to happen to it, can we save it up for a bit then clear a small debt, or do they want us to split it. I want to get this debt down as soon and as often as poss.

Has anyone changed DMP provider? I'm with Payplan but think I might get a better ' deal ' with CCCS

I keep thinking that but then think I should do it myself.

OH and I are in the process of setting up a DMP with CCCS but I have one question, How likley is it that someone will turn up at our doorstep. It is the only thing that I am worrying about, I can cope with nasty calls and letters but not face to face.

    Many thanks.

    Debt-free and Proud!
I have been on a DMP with Payplan since Jan 07 the same month that I had my lightbulb moment and it was becuase of this site and this forum that I found out about them and decided to do it. Its probably the best thing I have ever done, although hard at first I now have a happy balance between actually living my life and paying off debts...sorry im rambling, what I meant to say was..please could I join the group :)
In Jan 2007 I had a debt of £27,896.00
In October 2011 I paid it off and owned £0.00 - Kinda proud of this!:T

    Hey guys

I need to rant have sat down today and after not really realising how much i owe i called around and got balances on all of my accounts i am on a DMP have been for 12 months now still have 10 years left to go.
    I thought i owed about 70,000
but when i have worked it out i actually owe £58,000 which i know is good cause its less than i thought but why do i feel so sick and ashamed now i talked through with my DMP company and she said when we get some money together they can start offering full and finals to some of our creditors to get the debt down quicker.
Now i know this is all quite positive we want to pay off the debts quicker so why do i feel so sick and ashamed now though.
    Any advice appreciated

    Hi Lisabell

You have done really well to maintain your DMP for a year . You should hold your head up high with the pride and knowledge that you have faced up to your debts and are dealing with them sensibly. Wish you well for the next year!

    Hi all,

Can I join too? Have just made my first payment on DMP with CCCS, so it would be good to share experiences and get advice!

I owe £20k in total - £9800 Egg Loan, £6700 Egg card and £3400 Intelligent Finance card. So far, I've had nothing from Egg Card and IF, apart from letters advising that my Direct Debit has been cancelled and could I reinstate it - no response to my letters advising that I was starting DMP. Egg Loan, on the other hand, have issued a Default Notice immediately - talk about not hanging around!! They have also said they've not received anything from me or CCCS about the DMP, which is complete rubbish because I sent the form to them by recorded delivery, with a token payment, which has been processed and applied to the account! CCCS have said they will re-send budget information etc, so will wait to hear.

Has anyone got any experience with Egg? Do they usually issue a Default the instant they know you're going on to a DMP?

    Thanks
