I have not had personal experience with cahoot but companies suspend interest because of your personal finances not because of who you are with if that makes sense.
Some companies will start charging interest again whoever you are with and some never do again its another case of it all depends on the individuals and who deals with your accounts.
Sorry I can't give any definite answers!0 -
thanks rayday2
cahoot have always been good so hopefully they will continue tobe so0 -
nomoneynomoney another question for you or for anyone else who has been successful with F &F offers to their creditors.
Had your debts been passed to Debt Collectors when you made your offers? All of ours are still with the original companies Goldfish (was Morgan Stanley),Egg,GE Money,Littlewoods Catalogue, RBS Credit Card, Tesco, HFC.
To be honest, we have only heard from a couple since we started 2 yrs ago. CCCS have dealt with everything.0 -
egg was still with OC0

Had a letter from CCCS earlier to say that my 3 month review is next week(Jeez that came round quickly). Thing is i am not able to pay any more, my circumstnaces haven't changed at all in 3 months, in fact i think i may have overstreched myself at it is but as all but two of my creditors have accepted i dont really want to rock the boat and reduce my payments.Should i be worried??0

hi
When we had our 3 month review it is fine they just go over your existing plan like at the beginning. We really stretch ourselves as well (hubby smokes far more then they allow for (thats another story) and our plan went up by £1.00 to £411 per month so only as small increase.
We were told to increase our food amount and they decreased the amount for newspapers magazines etc and advised we should only be spending £3.00 a month on papers which i think is very little. I do not buy them but hubby likes a daily paper when he is at work and at 0.35p a day that is about £7.00 a month but we went with what they advised.
They will tell you if some of the budget seems a lot and what they can change.
On our next review my gas electric and house insurance has increased so not sure if ours will stay the same or decrease.
Please dont worry the cccs do help all they can and have set guidlines for what is allowable on a dmp budget and are very helpful and it is nothing to be nervous about.
take care good luck with dmp
bye for now0 -
Reading through the latest posts am I right in thinking that DMP's only have a limited lifespan with CCCS? 4/5 years seems to be the figure?
All quiet thus far on the DMP front for me although MBNA have now confirmed I am in default of their terms and agreement. The car failed it's MOT on 4 new tyres so my emergency fund as just been wiped out with one foul swoop but at least the car gets a MOT pass for another year and I won't get 12 points on my licence
Also found out that we have a joint account with Halifax that as been dormant for about 12 years! Will this account still be usuable? Thanks again in advance. Hi all
I can't believe this is happening. My husband is on a DMP with CCCS, he has loads of Creditors however one (the one he owes least to) have been aggressive from the outset and never had any intention of accepting the DMP.
They put in a claim in the County Court and my husband completed and returned the Admission Form (they acknowledged receipt). Then they asked for two wage slips. Because they have constantly threatened my husband with contacting his employer (he is in the Armed Forces and this is extremely bad for his career) he did not want to give his wage slips as this provides too much personal data, and he declared everything on his DMP and the Admission form anyway.
However, he phoned them up yesterday - they were extremely unpleasant and told him that because he did not send the two wage slips they did not tell the Court he had returned his completed Admission Form.
Now they have issued a judgment to pay the whole lot forthwith.
We are frantically trying to get through to Northampton Court whose line is constantly busy, because I believe the minute they get that judgment they can apply for a Charging Order against our property and I think even contact his employer (which would be the end of his career prospects).
I am worried that they have manufactured this situation purely to do this. The CCCS and National Debtline both said they cannot withhold the form from the Court, but while we are sorting this out - what if they apply for a Charging Order and get it, or contact his employer? Because he is in the Armed Forced they cannot apply for an AEO, but can they just talk to his employer to get a deduction from his earnings now they have the Judgment - forthwith??
I have had constant palpitations since yesterday and neither of us have slept and it is so frustrating not to be able to get through to the Court.
Any advice is much appreciated.0 -
Hi Amyv
Continue trying to get through to the court to find out the situation.
This happened to me soI will try and remember ther process.
They may well get a forthwith judgment but they can not automatically get a charging order.
If you receive a forthwith judgement then you can asked for a variation order and again offer your payment that you have already offered. The court will probably accept this. National Debtline or CCCS will help you to fill in the correct form. The creditor may then ask for it to be redetirmined to a forthwith judgment so that they can then apply for a charge when you default. This is done at a court hearing and if the creditor has a forthwith judgment then hopefully the judge will rule in your favour and revert it back to a monthly payment order.
I hope this make sense to you. In my case they did not get the charge and I paid £23 each month for a debt of £110000 -
AmyV you should never send wage slips and companies are not entitled to ask for them. So you have done nothing wrong.
They cannot get a charging order without a CCJ, and even with a CCJ you have to have missed payments etc in order to get a charging order or extreme circumstances. Judges normally go along with the CCCS if the amount of payment offered monthly there is no way they get one for the full amount. And even if you do it get a charging order it just means when you sell the house they get some but if like you say the debt is the smallest it will probably be gone first.
They are bullying and I doubt the courts will like what they are up to, maybe if it does get to court you should write a letter about the stresses with your husband serving in the forces etc
So basically there are lots of steps to go through and I guarantee the courts will be on your side they see you are doing your best committed to a plan and then they see money grabbing companies wasting courts time - who would your sympathies lie with?0
