  • mine started at 40 years  - that was 5 years ago. I've managed to pay some off so now I have 15 years left but hopefully can pay some more off as time goes on.
  • Oh dear 61 years - I bet you feel great now you have it down to 12 years.
  • I owe £76K and I think it currently stands at a 18 year payback. Although, not all of my eight creditors have frozen interest charges, but I live in hope. I think the thing to be careful of, is that in our passion to reduce the overall payback term, that we don't leave ourselves short each month. The whole point of the DMP is that life can be close to as normal as possible and at the same time giving us the chance to honour our debts.

    Hi all,

Can I please join the group. My wife & I started a joint DMP through CCCS in October last year & we owe around £38000. I think my current time to pay it all off is 40 years.

Most of the companies have been quite good so far. The only problems I've had are with Nationwide & HSBC who are still adding interest & charges. The other problem I've had is with Weightmans Solicitors who are collecting on behalf of HFC bank, although they accepted the payments for a few months they now want a charge on my house, as per CCCS guidance I refused the voluntary charge but I have just received the County Court Claim form from Weightmans who are going to get a CCJ against me & then go for the Charge on my house anyway.

Although on the whole CCCS have been great, in this instance I got differing advice from 3 people within CCCS & it left me more confused than ever!!

    Welcome to the support thread.

  • Morning all :hello:

Hope you are all well and dandy on this lovely sunny day. Off to the park today to feed the ducks and let the DDs loose with their bikes. Hopefully wont spend any money as we have a packed lunch all prepared. Hope you all have a great day and remember we are getting control of our debts not them controlling us.

  • I'm just about to start filling out the notification of debt management plan to my credits and I'm a bit stuck about what to put for the paragraph "explain why your circumstances have changed". My circumstances haven't changed really it's just that I've been very silly with money and got myself in over my head! Any advice please?
