Hi Bigdi
I'm not much help on this - but from what I can gather DC are usually better to deal with than the creditors themselves. Some of my husbands debts have been handed over to DCs and to date (touch wood) they have been perfectly reasonable.
Hope that helps a bit - but I am sure others will come along shortly with something more constructive to say! and you have definitely done the right thing - and we all wish we had done it years ago ;-)) but it'll all come right in the end0 -
I`m having a hard time with EGG as they keep spouting on about it being a `condition` of having a Loan with them that I pay by Direct Debits.
I`ve sent them the Debt Notification sheet and sent them an email saying I`ve had to cancel the Direct Debits as I`m not having them raiding my bank account when they want, they sent me one back saying I`ve been passed onto their collections department and will hear from them within 72 hours....ooooh goody another phone call to ignore then."Life is short even in its longest days".0 -
Hi TakeittotheLimit
You're probably better off with their Collections Dept - so don't worry about it
My husband had loans - he cancelled his direct debits, they passed the debt on - thats fine! they still have to follow the proper processes - and are often easier to deal with.0 -
Hi, could I be added to this very long que of people on dmp? Have been on dmp since Feb 07 (eventually) and paying over £400.
Just had a bank statement from my cc acc. and they started charging me for the interest again. Have to wait until the bank freezes the interest and to call them again next week to find out. It would be frozen for 6 months only. Fed up.

Added you tomandjerry! Welcome
Takeittothelimit - They are grasping at straws its also a condition that you pay the set amount a month but you will be paying lower so guess they will have to get used to it! They will get a direct payment anyway, just at an amount you can afford!0 -
Hi all (looks like i could be here a while)
After finally facing up to my debts £10270.20 i rang payplan on monday and they are calling tommorow but im a bit worried about a few things.
Firstly i had a call of mbna tonight about missing a payment i owe them £134
couldnt talk as i was driving but they'll ring back they said should i just tell them i've contacted paypal as i cant afford the payment this month.
the other question i have is if i do go on a dmp do they allow budgeting for social and holidays worked out my budget and want to include 150 for holiday until july which includes spending money and 250 per month for social leaving 200 for creditors after other outgoings are paid
Thanks0 -
Hi everyone,
I've been lurking for a while and thought it was time to say "hello".
We've been in a DMP with Payplan since September last year and current DFD is September 2013 but we hope to do it before that.
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posts on here for all the things I've learned. Until I found this site I thought we were the only people who had got themselves in a total mess. It's good to know we're not, if you know what I mean.
Hopefully I can contribute something from my little bit of DMP experience to the site.
Oh, could I have a number please?
Thanks,

Hi and welcome,
I think the advice will be to pay your creditors token amounts that you can afford (even if it's just £1) until your DMP kicks in. When they ring you back explain about Payplan, and that they will be hearing from them soon. Don't be put i=under any pressure to pay money to them that you can't afford.
As regards the social side, I'm with CCCS, and although the do allow an entertainment amount for your budget, I doubt that they'll be too happy with £250 a month. I had one creditor turn down my plan on the grounds that I spend £65 a month on smoking.
However, it can't hurt to ask!
Hope it goes ok,

Hello Gooner, I'm a newbie and this board is my saving grace. Everyone is so helpful. Anyway, I have been in a DMP with Payplan which started in December with the first payment going out end of January (pay day). I am in a similar situation to you and when PP prepared my SOE they took into account holidays but not sure about the social aspect - obviously I don't have a social life as I'm always working! When creditors phoned I replied that I had entered into a DMP with PP and quoted my ID number. If they rambled on as call centres tend to, I just thanked them and hung up. I was advised to offer a token payment in the early days i.e. £1 or £5 just to keep things on an even keel. I am awaiting my creditors responses to the offers made and don't really know what to expect but when I have a 'wobbly' as I had earlier on today, I just come on this board for a bit of reassurance. Good luck, you have done the right thing with the DMP so just stick with it0
