Morning all
I've been on my DMP for coming up to a year now and things have settled down nicely. So much so that I am thinking that I might nearly be ready to go it alone. I have gained so much confidence in dealing with my creditors and now know not to take any c**p from any of them.
Having read a few posts from people just starting their DMP, it is an uncertain time but what I did when I first entered into mine was to write to all of my creditors explaining clearly about my situation. I stated just what I was going to do and how and why I had got myself into this strife and that I am committed to sorting it out.
It probably did not help a jot but it made me feel better as I thought that I really had done everything I could and that no-one could be left in any doubt as to my intentions.
I had a bit of trouble with HSBC, Egg gave me a default and Co-op said very politely that they were transferring my loan to a DCA. I have not heard anything about this for 10 months and now notice that my loan has been put into my current a/c with the co-op as an overdraft as such and I am paying that off. Not sure what that means but they are taking the reduced payments.
Well, that's me.Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
My home is my main concern. Happy to budget happy to go without luxuries. Just hope the creditors realise this. My own parents went bankrupt when I was young and it was very traumatic and they split up as a result. Although I am confident in my relationship it is a harsh reminder of things to come. I don't have any parental support so it's down to me.DMP Support Thread Member 142

Do you think it is therefore worth writing to the creditors. My payments are up to date until next month and I am just awaiting our wages to be deposited into my account before pp contact them 6th March. Should I write to them now in advance? I was advised to wait until my wages were there. Should I then contact the creditors aswell as payplan to confirm my intentions or wait to see what happens with pp.DMP Support Thread Member 142

We're all here to support each other - so never feel on your own.
PayPlan will also give you lots of good advice. We are with CCCS for our DMP but quite often we will phone National Debtline for a bit of extra reassurance - and they are great too.
I won't say its easy - we are having a bad time with a horrid creditor at the mo - but they are the only bad ones, and we will sort out this little "blip" - (I am going to report them to the Financial Ombudsman) but if I ever feel a bit wobbly - I just come on here and someone always comes along to make me feel better :-)
My hubby thought I would leave him when he confessed the true horror  of his debt - but I was just relieved that he had finally come clean - and we are probably stronger now working together (I'm the letter writer!) than we were before, as I feel we can crack this once and for all.0 -

I waited until I had sorted everything out with CCCS before writing to my creditors. I posted the letter of with all of the other DMP notification gubbins and sent it all off in a big pack to them all.
There is no requirement to do this I guess but I just thought at least the prerson who read it might be the perosn that decided how to administer my account so it could only have helped.
I would wait until you have set up everything with payplan and are ready to notify your creditors.

I waited till I was 100% sure work had sent my wages to my new bank account
Didn't want my old bank taking any of my wages to "offset" my huge credit card bill

If you tell us some of your creditors, maybe we can post if we've had dealings/issues with them at all?working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

Its strange, because I think some people have had hassle off certain Creditors, but others have the same Creditors and haven't had a peep out of them!
