Hi CBI,
It's a scary time isn't it? I started my DMP with CCCS at the end of January, and whilst I've been getting hassle from one or two creditors, the majority of them have been ok. Rest assured that although you are not offering your creditors exactly what they wanted, you ARE paying them. Please don't be intimidated by any of the phonecalls or letters you will receive. Stand your ground, and repeat until you're blue in the face "I am on a DMP with CCCS, you will receive payment through them on the 25th of the month"; make it a mantra every time one of them calls you!
If CCCS have put recommended a DMP, then it's because that's what's best for you. Have faith in them (and yourself), and you'll come through this just fine.
Don't forget, there's always someone around here if reassurance is needed, or you just need to blow off steam!

Don't worry CBI,
You have done the hard work. Let CCCS help you now. The creditors will soon settledown. Every so often 1 may contact you but as time goes on you will feel more confident and equipped to deal with these people.
It will take time before you feel you can relax because you've been so used to juggling everything for so long0 -
hi all,
long time ,no hear.all is ok.hope you are all going well.
i support barnsley fc and am in a good mood after they tronced liverpool on sat.the only downside was that early on sat morn i passed a betting shop giving really good odds.....(which i forget as i glanced as i passed)...that barnsley would win liverpool2-1 and thats the score.could have been alot richer if i had gambled...but if i had they would prob have lost so glad i didnt put kiss of death on it.
anyway, thats my good news and they say to pass on the good stuff.......unless you are a liverpool supporter, then sorry for gloating.
take care, ilgd xxPeople bring great joy into our lives..some by arriving, others by leaving.im trying to be one of the former, so please bear with

We had to sit through a Middlesbrough, Sheffield UTD match sadly it needs replaying to pro-long the agony. I say pro-long as I absolutely totally hate football and hubby is a Middlesbrough fan - luckily they don't usually have much success so I manage to miss a lot lol0

Hi all,
never actually visited this thread before but already it has got me thinking.... my DH has a dmp with Debtcare (taken out way before I found this site otherwise things would be very different!). he's in the process of selling his house and is going to pay off the dmp with the profit. until this thread I didn't realise that you could make full and final payment offers, how would this work with regards to Debtcare, would we make the offers independently of them or would we have to tell them before we did it?. would Debtcare not want us to make offers or would they support us in this? any suggestions would be gratefully received cos i'm flummoxed
thanks0 -
When the time comes I would cancel Debtcare and then make contact individually with the companies involved. To be honest I would be tempted to cancel them anyway.
If you go though Debtcare they would take a cut and so you would end up paying more. There is no need to use them at all if you look on the national Debt helpline website you should be able to find template letters you can use.0 -
Thanks Rayday, will check out the website and then have a chat to DH about it- am expecting a little resistance as he thinks that the Debtcare dmp is 'safe' and doesn't want to rock the boat, will perservere though cos it could save us some money:j0
-
Well I run my own DMP with the help of the template letters on that site and I have been "safe" for nearly two years now lol and all my money has gone to my debt!
I am not being critical of your hubbys actions but we all feel safe in what we do otherwise we wouldn't do it. He has felt OK about paying them monthly but does he really want a debt management company possible getting hundred or thousands from the sale of his house?
I wouldn't that could be in my pocket!0 -
Hi Guys - update. I've been paying min payment £1 to Debtmanagers/Barclaycard for a bit. I lately got a scare letter from ScotCall and instead of panicking as normal I sent off the CCA request template letter - got the response today.
they were unable to obtain a copy of the agreement and have returned the account to their client. hee hee just have to wait and see what happens now as DM are still getting a £1 a month.
Jessbrown100 - I run my own DMP using templates from Nationaldebtline and payplan. I found it takes a lot of courage to set up but i feel more in control and responsible than if i let someone else deal with it. however I found Nationaldebtline CCCS and payplan all invaluable for advise when changing amounts payable etc.
mind you if i find my creditors are coming a$£y in future i will jump straight to payplan as then they will have to take my efforts more seriouslytotal debt at lightbulb 18th April 2007:idea: £42367.60:eek: DFW Nerd No 725. I'm soon to move from CCCS DMP to doing my own. Do either of you have any experience with cahoot? At the moment they have frozen interest because I'm with the CCCS and I'm concerned if I go it alone then they'll charge interest again.0
