Just wanted to say how reassuring it has been to read everyone's posts about their positive dmp experiences.
Makes me feel braver and braver everyday.

I cannot imagine EVER telling any one of my family or friends about the mess I am in. It makes me feel like an absolute failure that I have allowed myself to get this deep in debt and not stop much much earlier.
Especially as I am a single girl with no dependants. I am not trying to keep a family fed, housed and clothed - it has been pure and utter stupidity and buying stuff without thought.

This is such a great thread; I am so glad I have found it. :j

I'm in a DMP with Payplan.....[ three months into it ]...have asked them to confirm which of my creditors have accepted payments and wether or not they have heard from 1st Credit.....[ were pestering me last week and not heard from this...thinking this can not be a good sign ].....Payplan seem to be quite slow in this area...[ I realise they are dealing with thousands of clients]...beginning to think maybe I chose the wrong company.

    Hi Jenevieve

you are not a failure, you are in fact incredibly brave to be facing up and dealing with your debt

    Hi Skibadee

I have sometimes found that payplan can take a couple of days to email back, however the have always got back to me.
Check on justabank and make sure that your email has reached them ok as I think that they had recent problems with their site

You are not a failure - you are dealing with your situation - how can that be failing. If you look at it from my perspective - my husband is earning a good salary and I earn not too bad either. We did exactly the same and bought stuff without a second thought. Latterly we got worse into debt because we were robbing one CC to pay another. We even took out a huge secured loan to consolidate everything just two years before we contacted the CCCS. I so wish we had contacted the CCCS two years earlier. I told one of my sisters straight away because she openly talked about being in same situation. I recently told another just because it seemed relevant to our conversation. She didn't appear to be surprised. On the other hand I have another sister and I would rather cut my tongue out than tell her. I also would never tell my mum because she would just worry about us.

You don't ever have to tell anyone remember that - it's your business.

I think I told you about our problem with 1st Credit. When they initially started getting bolshy again they said they wanted the whole amount due or they were going to get a charging order and we would have to pay another £200 or something for the cost. I don't think they realised that you can't actually get a charging order in Scotland. But they followed up a year later with the Scottish equivalent. We now have a further £300 added to our debt for judicial expenses but at least they have accepted our offer for the moment - a big relief ... the one thing I have found from reading this forum is that the creditors don't appear to be very consistent with how they deal with people.

Hi again all. Had a bit of good news today. I aaplied to Co op last thurs for a cashminder account and heard nothing since I was expecting forms to arrive needing to be signed like the Nat west ones i sent back yesterday. Phoned Coop this morning and account is opened already and they gave me account number over the phone. Electron card should be here in a few days.Yippee

Then things went a bit wrong after that. Phoned Tax credits people to see about transferring Child and working credits to new account but it can take up to 10 working days. I was hoping it would be sooner so as not to risk losing it in my LLoyds overdraft.
IN my posts last night i said about having to keep up LLoyds cc payment but still have it in my account at the mo. I know they will take it out soon anyway but was hanging on to see if tax credits would be sorted so i would then send LLoyds cc a token payment and at least have money to keep me going for a while but looks like i prob have to pay cc anyway. If i dont they will take me over my od limit and then if tax credits go in i wont get them as they will cover the over limit amount.
Wages dept in second job busy everytime i phoned so prob wont shift that in time either but theres always hope.
Asked my ex to change maintenance to new account today and got 20 questions but i bluffed out of it i think. Not sure how soon he will sort it as i couldnt make it sound urgent as i dont want him knowing my business. Prob lose some of that money too if it not sorted by next week.
Still things can start moving now and i know i will get there one day (well about 3650 days to DFD lol)
Hope you are all ok bye for now
  • hi everyone,
i've lurked here for a while picking up bits of advice, me and my partner have debts of £21,000 (excluding secured loan and mortgage). we have just entered into a debt management plan in my name, it's my fault how we ended up like this! we are now trying to get my partner onto the plan but still feel like we are sinking, i'm waiting to start a second job soon and cutting back in all areas we can think of, is there anything else we could be doing to scrape some extra cash in???

Hi Dafty, have you tried selling stuff on ebay. I sold quite a bit before Xmas as i was very short of money and it got me through. Have a look first to see whats selling well maybe collectables or sportsware. Could try bootsales but i never seem to make much but a lot of people do them regularly and make a good profit. I am just about to start a DMP but only just had first paperwork so lots to be done yet. Hope things work out ok for you, take care

You referring to this place as being a dump???? :p :rotfl:

Hope it goes ok YM. Wish I could think of increasing mine - unfortunately still thinking that if prices keep on going up I'll have to decrease payments a bit :o But I don't want me dfd to be any further away

Paid off one of mine (small £5 payments each month) and now anxiously waiting for CCCS to update my monthly figures so I can see how they will portion that £5 out to the others - just want to add it in my spreadsheet where I keep track of how much I have paid/owe etc - bit sad aren't i? :p
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
