Sorry if this is a daft question..... do you have a fully worked out DMP in place yet? If not, go to CCCS or one of the others and get one sorted. I suspect you will do better in the courts that way.
Hi Andy
Yeah we are on DMP with CCCS, although first payment not going out til 1 May. So a you say, hopefully that will go in our favour if it gets to Court.0 -
Hi Everyone
Just popping in to say hello!!!
I have just finished my yearly review with CCCS ( What a lovely bunch of people:D )
It was all very straightforward and, as always, the lady I spoke to was lovely. I had been dreading it but all was fine, we rejigged my figures a bit and I have instantaneously knocked 6 months off my DFD:j
She told me I was under budget on a few things and increased my amounts for food and entertainment!! She said my payments were increasing so there was no point in leaving myself short.
All in all a very good morning!! I can honestly say that I have not felt this much at ease about my financial matters for at least 10 years and only wish I had started my DMP years ago.
Take Care All

We have been on DMP for five years. Don't regret it one bit. More of a relief really. We had MBNA and Next too. I seem to remember they both sold it on. Next did very quickly and MBNA not so quickly. I have recently told one of my sisters about our DMP - it wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be. Another one knew from the beginning because she was in almost the same position and she talked about it openly. It's sometimes good to be able to talk to someone who isn't your OH about it.0

hi all
teecee i am glad your review went well and that you can increase payments.
I am nearly a year into dmp now with cccs. I had to call them yesterday for a review as from end of this month fixed rate on mortgage ends, our payments have had to decrease because of this increase. I am hoping this is only temp situation as we hopefully start getting child tax again in next 6 months. (long story overpayment issue).
The lady on the phone with cccs was outstanding and she gave me options on iva and explained that at moment we can not contribute enough for that but in a few years it may be option as they now do iva, however we do have equity in home so not keen on this as option really.
I am hoping to increase working hours in few years 3+ and that will increase payment.
I was trying to remain positive as our mortgage is finished in 14 years and once this is paid will have have a lot more to clear debts. suggested to hubby if he stops smoking it will take off years off plan. (not sure if this went in one ear and out the other)!!!
I still do not regret going down dmp route as i sleep well now and whilst it is not an easy way out i feel it was the best option.
Hope the creditors favour the slight decrease in payment. I am ready and waiting if they call.
take care all
bye for now.0 -
tass- when I started my DMP no-one except the people on this thread had any idea about my debt. I have since told my fabulous baby brother (he's 27 - but still a baby to me!) and he has been fantastic. I'm a single mum amd so didn't have anyone to talk/vent/laugh with and this thread was my lifeline at the start of my DMP. I will never be able to thank those that helped me enough,
This thread rocks!!!!

Hi Bowz
Glad to hear you are well!
Try not to worry too much about your payments going down, after all your circumstances are still the same, you are paying what you can afford. Hopefully in the future things will improve and you will be able to up them again.

I have only told two people about our DMP and am not sure I would go any further. If someone was telling me they were really struggling financially I would tell them and point them in the direction of this site and CCCS but otherwise am not brave enough to broadcast it generally.0 -
Glad your review went well teecee. Ours has been very slow, still waiting for reply from one creditor, rest have had increases bar one who don't want it!No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Thanks Gemmzie
I will keep my fingers crossed that all goes smoothly for you!
tass - I am the same, if I was discussing money and someone told me they were struggling I would definately point them towards CCCS but I doubt if I would tell about my situation. Guess I'm just a fraidy cat!! It's the thought of being judged or regarded differently or as a failure I don't think I could cope with. Thats why I love CCCS they never judge and don't make you feel bad they just help and support when you are at your most vulnerable.DEBTS @ 1/1/07 - £25,800:eek: DEBT @ 04/05/11 - NIL
