What I do not sure it would work for you like but anyway, wages go in first current account with all the direct debits, then a standing order for whats left over for food, petrol, clothes etc goes into another current account and I keep a spreadsheet of this also this second account has no overdraft facility so I can't spend.
I don't bulk shop because when I did I still found when I went for just milk and bread type shops it was never just that so I mentally take what goes into that second account and think right that gives me no more than £80 a week and out food/toiletries is usually about £60 ish.0 -

Great advice rayday! The trouble is I need a second bank account now! Any suggestions? With Nat West at the moment! Thank You Rayday! Do you use a speadsheet from Excel? Thanks again :T"The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person's determination."Debt free in 4 years  _party_0 -
Thanks rayday that link will be very useful. DH & I both have annual pre-payment medical certificates which (at the moment) costs £98 per year) We are due to re-new and have had notification that in Scotland the chrge is going down to eventually nothing.
So maybe we could leave our amount at the old level? Bit sneaky but gives us an extra £100 a year to allocate to fuel bills.0 -
I used quidco recently and got an A&L account with £50 cashback and HSBC with £20 but the HSBC one was just cashcard, but remember check out the companies are not related, not sure it matters much if they have been passed onto DCA, but double check anyway!
It is excel I use just a basic money in, and comes out, used to use an actual account book at one time as hubby never updated spreadsheet but I slapped him around a bit and he came round to my ways0 -
Hi everyone,
Last night (Valentine's Day of all days!) I finally opened up to my OH about my debt. He's been amazing, he handled it really well, and has been really supportive. I think it helped a lot that I'd already been proactive and set up my DMP. He said he was really proud of me for dealing with it. Phew.
I also think that I am going to move in to my nan's house, which could potentially free up £400 a month. This would change my DFD from November 2012 to April 2010!
Hope everyone's well,

Hello all
Number 24 logging in. I am coming up to a year on the DMP with CCCS (April) and apart from the start I have had a very encouraging year. Egg and HSBC proved the most troblesome. Egg slapped me with a default the moment that they recieved my SOA from the CCCS and HSBC closed my bank account and demanded immediate repayment of my overdraft. HSBC were also taking my wages still as I was being paid weekly and hadn't sorted out a new bank a/c and weren't letting me get to them.
MBNA and Capital One cut interest to 0% immediately and have been silent ever since. I can;t help but feel something still might go wrong but I am grateful that apart from the one default on my file, nothing to scary has happened to me.
I have my yearly review soon but have been in a new job for a while without telling the CCCS. My rent went up and I now pay bills as not included in rent so I don't actually have more disposable income than income before. I didn't want to mess up the harmony with my Creditors that has been created.
Am I in the wrong to do this, will my creditors think that as I earn more I should be paying more?Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
If your living costs have gone up as well as the wages then those are the figures you have to put forward, you usually find as you get a rise someone behind you says actually this is going on - in on one hand out in the other!
I think the longer you are on a DMP it just gets sort of routine so doubt there will be much ruptions.0 -
Thanks, hopefully not too many ruptions. Moved house you see, our landlady sold the last one and couldn't find anywhere as cheap so rent has gone up and now pay bills.
Borrowed money from my mum to pay HSBC and get them off my back, horrible to deal with. Offered me a consolidation loan but closed my a/c so I couldn't actually take it even if I wanted it.
I am also finally up to date with the rather large "minimum" payments that had built up with MBNA and Capital One so feel like I am actually starting to make inroads. I'm sorely tempted to clai, back my charges from these credit ctads but am fearful that they might get shirty seeing as they have reduced my payments and allowed me 0% interest.
Has anyone else successfully claimed for unlawful CC charges while on the DMP. HSBC (the one surprisingly good thing I might add) paid me over £400 after the second letter requesting the charges. Was a nice surprise.Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Just going back to Boltonbwfc's question about a second bank account.
I applied to Lloyds TSB as my second account, which in my case is totally for my business expenses. Reimbursed by my employer but the account is in my name, not theirs ( I wish !!!). The reason I mention LTSB, is that I received a VISA debit card, which was a godsend to me with 60% overseas travel per annum. As all my other credit cards bit the dust when my DMP kicked in, it was a relief to at least have that Visa facility. Of course, you need to save enough cash in the account , so you can use the facility.0
