  • hi everyone.

been off the board for ages and fell off the DFW wagon for a bit but i've dusted myself off. I've just sent off CCA letters to the last three debtors.
I've had a bit of a body blow this week that my share of the house after sale is not going to raise enough to clear my debts! but i'm going to keep plugging.

I've worked out my SOA for my creditors with a £20 buffer on the mortgage payments so that interest rates raising won't cripple me too much otherwise i'd be writing a set of letters every month!

glad you lot seem to be making progress

Would anybody else mind saying how much they are allowed on their DMP with CCCS for fuel?
We have oil and electric. Oil has almost doubled in price since our review last year and then we were allowed £90 per month when it was costing nearer £100. And we only use the central heating when the temperature in about -5C!
Last year our electric was £35 per month then increased to £61 and just reduced to £27. We are on the BG price cap until 2010 so can't find it cheaper at the moment.

Hi I often read the DMP support thread but have not posted for a while. I am a bit confused about what to do - I put this message on the main DFW board but with no success and was hoping someone on here might be able to help me.

I was wondering if anyone had challenged the enforcability of their debt whilst on a DMP - I have one creditor and am 99% sure that they do not have my cca. What is my position re challenging them?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Janey

We are allowed £113 for gas and electricity with pay plan as that was the total of our direct debits when we set it up.

We are also finding things hard going just now with rising costs of petrol etc.and cant wait till the end of the month

    barbie doll hi!
I believe you need to write to your creditor with £1 fee and ask them for a true copy of your CCA. There is a template letter to do this somewhere. There is definitely one on the Consumer Action Group Forum.
There is a time limit for when the creditor is legally obliged to respond. As always, send letters recorded Delivery a sits amazing how many things get lost in the post.

I have recently done this with two of my creditors, one had got two DCA on me so it was to clear that up but turned out neither of them had one so it went back to original creditor. The other one was making out I had not sent a payment it was going to cost me £5 to prove the cheque and only a £1 to ask for a CCA - still waiting the outcome of that one. Both of mine were originally catalogues not sure if that is of any help to you.

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/dmbmanual/DMBM800120.htm This link is the "accepted" house hold costs for most finance companies. Maybe if the fuel is not as high as accepted you could boost another figure in? Also when I set mine up I made out children stayed school dinners, which they don't a little naughty but I wanted an emergency fund.

Added you to the list number 130 I believe!

Look forward to seeing you around :)
  • My problem is that both my OH and I get paid monthly on the same day of the month (18th). I have all the direct debits taken out on the same day apart from the Council Tax which is the 25th. The difficulty I have found is that I manage to do ok for 2 weeks after but struggle in the 3rd week and then in the 4th week we are on our knees!

Any suggestions on how to manage the money better. We tend to buy the food bulk when we get paid but have now sussed after 6 months on the DMP that this is not working. Would weekly shopping be better? How do people on here do it? There are 2 adults and 2 children in our household.

    Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

(Great win for the Wanderers last night in the UEFA  I attended. First game in 12 months due to the debt situation. Brother paid for me a ticket at a special price of a £5. It was nice to have some debt free thought time :rotfl:)
