The other thing is I know when the better weather comes, we will be using less gas and electric so have a little extra money there, and less heaters/lights on the car so hopefully a little less petrol there too.

But I don't want to upset my DMP as it is all nicely quiet at the moment - apart from Stupid Universal.

If you aren't managing then you need to reduce the amount you pay with a review.

You just cannot manufacture money out of fresh air the costs of living are rising all the time.

Its like I (boringly!) say all the time living on a DMP is different from the rest of this board, its all about living without credit whilst trying to pay off the debts, but the whole point of your DMP was to afford all the basics otherwise you would never have gone into it.

So you need to re-adjust your DMP so you can again afford the basics. If you start missing DMP payments etc which eventually you would have to there is only so much cutting back you can do you will be looking at the chance of CCJ's or rather heighten the chance.

Gowd that does sound like a lecture - its caus I'm peed off with my profiterole recipe from Wozza he is rubbish!

Its still possibly 3 months of extra heating and I thought the same as you less use of tumble dryer and stuff but summer was so pants last year I had to use it most the time.

Its up to you but the press is full of the rising cost of living the Governor of the Bank of England yesterday warned us all that the cost of living would continue to rise. So I am sure finance companies must anticipate cut backs!

Its not a refelction on your efforts if that happens, we genuinely are going through hard times even the best of us. Maybe after you will be able to re-adjust and pay things off. I know soon my youngest is in full time school so hoping that makes a difference.

You are an inspiration with your commitment so don't let it get you down!
  • Hi Newlywed. I'm no expert, far from it, having only just embarked on on my DMP last month. But cast your mind back to when you orginally set up your DMP..as a fledgling, just like me...didn't your advisor say just what Rayday is saying..."Don't sell your self short each month"... Otherwise , and the way I see it, th DMP kind of becomes a new debt concern, all on its own and, you start thinking of it as a hungrey creditor, instead of what its there for, to give you a fighting chance to settle your debts and at the same time, live life as close to normally ( whatever that is) as is possible. I agree with Rayday, I'd review the DMP and avoid those sleepless nights you were perhaps suffering pre DMP days...Again, I'm new to this and just as desparate as you to reduce the repayment period.

Just joining the DMP support gang!

I received my forms yesterday and just opened a new bank account. Is it too much short notice to start the DMP from March or not?

Bricking it at the moment :rotfl:

I am not sure of timing with CCCS I am a going it alone DMP person but people will be around later who will know!

I think even if it has to be April you can write to your creditors and offer them a token payment so you don't have to worry about paying full amounts, also that gives you some breathing space to get a bit of surplus in your current account which is always handy!

We're in a similar position newlywed, all the costs of living have gone up and now we can't make ends meet again.
