    Hi skysky,

Normally I would try to freeze as soon as possible but I would think that as long as you cooled and chilled it fairly quickly after cooking it will be fine to freeze. Just make sure when you defrost it that it isn't sitting around for too long before cooking.

Think I remember the guidlines being as long as it's chilled straight away it can be frozen up to 48 hours after but not totally certain on that. I can't see it being a problem, have a sniff or even a little taste now, if it smells/tastes ok should be fine.
One day I might be more organised...........

If I make a big batch of casserole, I've been known to eat it for two or three days and then freeze the leftovers. I've done this for years and I'm not dead yet! :rotfl:

Should be fine. Can you remember the use-by date of the mince, that would be a good guide. When labelling, put an extra reminder to thaw and use immediately, that's what I do.

I made chilli last Saturday night and we had the leftovers on Tuesday.....
    no ill effects.

I've looked on the Indexed collection and can't see anthing that answers this question so apologies if already been covered.

I believe the general rule on freezing is that once its out of the freezer and defrosted it needs reheating? However, I would like to batch cook Mini pies, Pizzas, Quiches and cocktail sausages for my kids lunches, but have not done so as am not sure of whether I can cook, freeze and then just take them out on the day for lunch without having to reheat it. Can this be done? If so will it taste nice or horrible.

    Thanks

I freeze such things, defrost them and eat without reheating. I don't have any problems with that.

For pack-ups I often wrap individual portions of quiche, pastie, piza. I then put it, still frozen into the lunch box. It keeps the lunch cool, and is defrosted ready for lunchtime.

It also means that I don't finish my lunch before 10am :D

I bought some cooked breaded ham the other day, and was wondering before it went off (or given to the dog) can I freeze it. I have about 8 slices left but have got my lunches for the rest of week planned already. I was thinking of putting each slice in cling film then freezing it - will it be ok to do this.

I have some greeseproof paper in, so I will try that thanks. Can I freeze any meat? and do I have to let it thaw before making sandwich. (for the next day to consume of course)

    Hiya, :)

I've added your query to our thread for quick questions on freezing.

And yes, you can freeze pretty much any meat. :)
