Had some stilton to use up so made a stilton and onion soup... but ended up with litres of the stuff!

    Can I freeze it?

The recipe used; milk, onion, stilton and stock - do they freeze ok?

    Cheers

    Hi Burp,

Yes the soup will freeze fine. I often freeze broccoli and stilton soup which contains the ingredients you use and it tastes just as good if not better after defrosting.

I'll add this to the quick questions on freezing thread as your query may help others.

I bought two trays of 'Root Vegetables coated in flavoured oil for Roasting' on whoopsie this afternoon. I used one of them with our evening meal but then noticed that they were labelled 'Do Not Freeze'.

Can anybody think of a reason why they shouldn't be frozen? - doesn't make any sense to me. After all, they are only veggies, coated in oil and placed in a foil tray - so what could be in there that shouldn't be frozen:confused:? Needless to say, I've stuck them in the freezer - but if it's really not advisable then I'll take them out and dump them.

It might simply be the texture will be affected by freezing - can't see why you need to worry.

The only reason I can think of is that they have already been frozen.

If not then it could just be a ploy to get you to throw them away instead of freezing them. If you can't eat them immediately "they" don't want you to freeze them and use them next week, "they" want you to throw them away and buy more next week.

It is probably because they were raw. Generally, root vegetables would be better frozen if they were partly cooked first. Next time it might be worth roasting them for a bit (but not until browned) and then freezing them.

I would think it will freeze, Birdseye and many other companies sell it frozen.
