ive merged this with freezing quick questions. Of course the cooked lamb can be frozen safely - why does your oH think it can't?
Leftover lamb may help and of course leg of lamb

Hi everyone
I took sausages and burgers out of the freezer for a BBQ but as the weather looked like it was coming over a bit cloudy I decided to just cook the burgers and kebabs under the grill indoors (bloomin sun came out after) so I had some sausages left ...
I looked on the sausages thread and have decided to make the stuffing and sausage pie ... I've mixed the raw sausage meat with the stuffing and some gravey and have the pastry chilling in the fridge (thanks os's for the tips) I was goin to line the tin put in the raw mix then cook at approx 180 for 30mins ... Should this be ok?
I have enough to make 2 pies so can I freeze One cooked (sausages were originally frozen raw) ?
I'm also planning on making a quiche with some cohopped pork eggs milk and cheese ... Can I freeze this to or how long would it last in the fridge ? (I'm out for dinner tomorrow) ??
Thanks guys xDFW

Yes these will freeze.
I'd portion before freezing so you can take out the quantity you want on the day (it also defrosts quicker in smaller portions)0 -

Hi,
As we have all the trees in the title in our garden we get quite a lot of fruit to freeze so over the years I've slowly found some gadgets that seriously speed up the preparation process.
Apples - we use an apple peeler, we remove the blade from it (as it slices to thinly - and then core and slice the apple with a corer.
The links are not necessarily the cheapest but are to give you an idea of what we use.

Plums (This also works for greengages, but not those imported round plums) This machine stones and slices the plum so it can be halved but just pulling it apart.

Cherries
Again a machine from Leifheit stones the cherries about 90% accuracy (but has a bit of a knack to it - use one had to slowly feed the cherries from the hopper)

We used to do them all by hand - but these really do speed it up - I have for instance just prepared 2.5 lbs of English plums in about 5mins.
Hope it helps someone.0 -
On which note......I have just been round to call on some friends who have been busy recently moving house and having a baby, Sat in the garden having a drink and a catch up and they have a lovely plum tree which is covered in ripe plums. I offered to take some off their hands in exchange for a jar of the plum and chilli chutney I'll make with them. So I now have half a carrier bag of plums - my question is will they be ok to leave for a couple of days until I have all the ingredients ready, or am I better of freezing them? And if so, how? Will they freeze ok whole? Or do I need to peel and half them first?
Thanks for any replies,

They should keep for a couple of days, if you try to find somewhere cool to keep them. If you can fit them in your fridge, do that. It's not a good idea to freeze plums whole, as the stone reacts with the flesh and makes them taste bitter.
Hope that helps.0 -
Thanks Karen.
I've just been Googling for recipes and as well as the chutney I'm now going to make jam and some sort of chinese style plum and chilli sauce. Will keep them in the fridge for a couple of days and hopefully get busy this week and they should all be used up.This is WAY more fun than monopoly.0 -
I picked up a large piece of salmon (6-10 portions?) today very cheaply, on the hope that I can cut it up and freeze it!!Any tips as I've not done this before!0

I just cut in into the sizes I need, pop it in a freezer bag and that's it!0
