Yes you can freeze home made shepherd's pie like that, but personally I would defrost it before re-heating in the oven, just to make sure it heats thoroughly all the way through.

Thanks very much and Spike a Hello from my George to your Daisy. This will just make my life very easy as the containers are stackable and I can then just get one out in the afternoon to defrost then just bung them in. Is there anything else I can do this with using the silver containers?Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!

Don't forget to take the cardboard top off before you put them in the oven!
I do shepherds pie, casseroles, chilli, fruit crumbles and things like that in the foil containers. I also use the plastic takeaway ones too for things I can microwave but the foil ones are great for things that are best reheated in the oven. I always defrost thoroughly first to make sure it gets heated through properly.Dum Spiro Spero0 -

You're welcome,
How about individual lasagnas?...make up as normal, but allow the meat ragu to go cold, then put uncooked pasta sheets in layers then freeze. These can then go straight in the oven from frozen...0 -
I do individual lasagne, moussaka, chilli, curry and shepherds pie and macaroni cheese. I sometimes defrost but just as often cook from frozen. I put the lid on foil side down AFTER writing contents on cardboard side in case it squishes out! I pop mine in clear cheapy food bag as well in case any air gets in and causes freezer burn. Also, they area good size for individual fajitas (we have two each in a portion):D0

as you have your answer ive merged this with freezing quick questions.
freezer containers may also be useful
i did read the awesome idea of lining your best tin with clingfil, layering up your lasgane whatever, freezing as is, then removing using the clingfilm. Wrap and freeze - remove cling film when you need to use and place in the correct dish ready to roast. Genius!! Saves keeping oven dishes in the freezer too,.
ZipA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
