Should be perfectly fine to freeze. If there is one thing I've learned from these boards, everything is freezable lol x
I've just made french onion soup, ciabatta bread and started a spicy sausage stew  just wondering whether to chop and freeze the bulk of my bargain 5kg bag of onions from l!dl. We have quite a small freezer hence my hesitation.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Dundeedoll - I bought 5kg of onions back a couple of months ago (maybe even 3) and have only just finished using them up. I didn't freeze them tho but left them hanging in their bag in the garage. Apart from a couple which went soft towards the end, the rest were fine. Need to buy another bag next week.
Well I have been a busy bee today and made:
Ham pie (pastry made from scratch:p) with a tin of condensed chicken soup and leeks
With leftover pastry made some jam tarts using JJ's micro pud recipe
Meatballs using 2 x tin toms, 1 x tin of beans, mushrooms, onions, spices, some fresh toms that needed using up and herbs
Beef stew - but cooked beef too long so a bit chewy, but will have to do this time
And a recipe I have never tried before thanks to JJ :A(again) peanut butter cookies - absolutely gorgeous
So quite pleased with myself
Oh yes and a rhubarb crumble:D
Also have mince in the slow cooker as used up some of the liquid from stew so that'll be another meal for in the week:j:jWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying!:rotfl:

My butternut or pumkin soup doesn't either, which is a huge shame, as its something thats hard to make in smaller quantities....its not a low fat soup, and i am guessing the cream is the issue. It really is inedible though when it defrosts. I have tried four times now, and finally learnt my lesson.0 -
If you want to add cream to your soup you need to do it at the time of reheating. The pumpkin or butternut soup will freeze beautifully on it's own. Once defrosted and reheated just add the cream at that point and it will taste just the same as if you had just made the soup.
HTH.

Has anyone successfully frozen.....
Runny honey?
Opaque (solid) honey? or
Honeycomb?
How long can it stay in deep freeze?
And can it be used again like normal when out of the freezer?
TIA0 -
Honey should keep for years just in its jar in the cupboard because of its high sugar content so I won't bother freezing it:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls
