I bought some egg rings in Wilkos the other week to use and they were perfect. They were 2 for £3, normal price, so I don't know if that works out cheaper than Sainsburys if they are not half price anymore when you go back?
Ahh of course, forgot about Wilkos!THESE are the ones I got, guess you could use metal cookie cutters instead?0 -
Apparently washed out bottomless tuna tins also work. Hmmmm now to eat 12 tins tuna...MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hi
Bought a great big bag of whoopsied bananas today but only me likes them in our house. Can I freeze and if so whats the best way ie do I peel and chop. I like them in my porridge. TIA xCherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

Definitely peel them, then wrap each one in cling film, or freeze on a tray. Harder to peel once they are frozen.
You can break them easily once frozen. Great to give a nice ice creamy smoothy. Also makes great ice cream if you defrost for around 10 mins, then whizz up with a spoonful of honey. Yum and healthy.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I've started adding pearl barley when I make beef stew, (sometimes so much that it ends up like a risotto) Can I freeze it? Or will the pearl barley go horrible?
Thanks0 -
You really dont need to freeze pearl barley, just put it in a jar and it will be fine for donkeys.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Assuming you mean you want to freeze the stew with barley in it, then I think it would be OK although I've never used barley myself - rice in stuff freezes well.
Why not freeze just one portion overnight, defrost a day later and if it's OK then you can freeze the rest?"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
I freeze (cooked) soup/aka barley porridge & it's absolutely fine when defrosted0

I know I should know the answer but I thought id better ask anyway. My local £1 shop sells those silver tubs with like a cardboard lid on (the ones that arent microwavable). Can I made sheperds pie in these complete with mash top allow to cool pop the top on then freeze. But then when I come to use them simply pop them in the oven to defrost and brown the top? Also is there any other dishes I can do in this way please?Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
