Freezing cooked potatoes - I've done it and they seem to not stay together all that well when they defrost. It didn't matter for me (as they were in stew anyway) but might be something to consider in regards cooking time or testing a couple before doing a whole load.
What you could do is sling them on to cook while doing dinner the day before you want the potato salad, then cool and just pop in the fridge, as they don't take all that long to cook and I find it's the cooling that takes all the time.0 -
Thanks both. Will have a try of the rice milk - its for in cereals and tea/coffee that I'd want to use it, so not cooking with it as such. I don't mind my potato salad falling apart, so will have a go
Cupofchai, that would work if I could persuade myself I'd be organised enough to a) remember to cook them, and b) have the potatoes in in the first place!i'm trying to set up a freezer full of lovely things that I can forget about until I have one of those moments. You know, the "oh heck, I need dinner/packed lunch in a hurry and I've got nothing in the cuboards!" moments

OH made a huge fish pie yesterday in a big rectangular glass dish. The intention was to have it for dinner last night and again tonight but the kids are rebelling as they dont enjoy fish at the best of times let alone 2 nights on the trot.
So half the fish pie is left in the glass dish it was cooked in, I'll be taking some out and reheating it for me tonight but there will be loads left still. Can it be frozen?Herman - MP for all!0 -
I have frozen fish pie in the past - and had no problem whatsoever, just make sure you thoroughly defrost it and make sure you reheat it properly and it should be fineWell Behaved women seldom make history

I freeze it all the time. Providing the fish wasn't previously frozen in the same state (ie cooked) it will be fine.
If it's a fish pie made with a mashed potato topping it can be a little dry after freezing so sometimes I make a cheese or white sauce to serve on the side when I reheat it.

When I make a fish pie there is usually enough for three pies. I have one that evening and make two more in foil containers for the freezer. They are all topped with mashed potato. I don't put cheese on top of the 'for freezing' ones but add it when they are defrosted before cooking. I have never found them to be dry - but then, I do make the fish part with plenty of bechamel sauce in the first place!0 -
I know this might sound a little dumb but if something doesn't specifically say "not suitable for home freezing" then technically could it be frozen?
Also, I often see these Tandoori Sizzlers on offer in Tesco's - however it says "Best eaten fresh so not suitable for home freezing" so would you def not be able to freeze? I can't see why they wouldn't be good from frozen, ingredients are:
