The prices for EDF have risen so much (gas 24% & elect 20%) that even if BG increase it might still be cheaper. Can always switch again if I can find out how!
Hi, I just followed the link from Quidco for British Gas and there was a big Blue Button in the middle right of the screen.0 -
Please read the following before proceeding:
Cashback will be validated after two months
so no quick exit if your waiting on the cashback if all goes ok more likely to be 3 months.0 -

Cashback is actually validated next day, might not be paid for a couple of months though, after all it can take a month for switch to occur.

Got my letter today. Re-calculated my most recent bills and found Gas had gone up by a whopping 21% and leccy 11%.
I am amazed they will not let you switch to the new online v5 tarrif unless you are a new customer. It is almost like they want to lose the long time online customers. Surely most of these people will leave as the customers with online tariffs are the sort who will be bothered to switch. I think they have shot themselves in the foot here. I can save about £80 with BG and get £60 back off Quidco. Only worry is will they increase their prices soon? Another consideration for me is that my gas is IGT and BG do not charge extra for this.

Also all info about newest tariffs.
Hope that helps
Energyhelpline.com still have the old tariff for my V3. I have so far found only MoneySuperMarket.com with the new figures. That shows BG Click Energy 4 to be my best option, with an annual saving of £136. However, when I plug the BG tariff details into my spreadsheet, I just cannot get the figures to match; I only get a saving of £68.
Also, there's something very disconcerting about a British Gas tariff being best! This can't possibly last, can it? I feel certain if I change they'll hit me with a swingeing price hike.

I too have just tried Moneysupermarket, as I am currently with EDF on V3, BG is the best provider for me also, can this be right?"Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Hey Geoff
Did you also add the discounts?
Dual fuel discount of £15 per year.
4.8% electricity discount off quarterly consumption, up to a maximum of £4.75 per quarter.
10.3% gas discount off quarterly consumption, up to a maximum of £15.08 per quarter
It worked out OK for me...also energyhelpline does have the new V3 prices, at least for my area (Norweb)...supposedly saving £84 - that'll do for me...+cashback.
And let's see, if BG put up their prices, then we move again later in the year?0 -
Hi all,
14months ago I got a letter from SP telling me they had put their prices up 3 weeks earlier.
When I called them to say I wasn't too happy to be told retrospectively of a price rise they didn't say sorry they said "We are within our rights to do that."
But as has been stated tell them immediately that you are leaving them because of the price rise. Then switch to a new supplier they can't apply the price rise.
It was a struggle and you have to keep your letters because SP denied they couldn't apply the price hike to switching customers, they also denied sending the letter, then denied the clauses in the letters. I ended up having to send copies back to them of their own letters. Eventually I got the difference back in two cheques.
Customer service, wonderful...
BTW I got cash back from coming through MSE to uSwitch - £12 I seem to remember - and I just got two cheques from my current supplier (AE&G) for staying with them for 12 months - a month free gas and electric.
As soon as the current price rises settle down I'll be looking again. It's not that AE&G have done anything wrong, there's just no place for loyalty any more.:think:0 -
I've just spotted the catch with BG's Click Energy 4 tariff. It didn't increase in January; the tariff pdf on BG's site shows it as from 11 Oct 2007.
So everyone's piling into this tariff believing that BG have recently had their price increase, but it's just a trick! They'll shaft everybody with a massive increase sooner or later.
