EDF Energy Online customers - BE AWARE!!!

Well, got my letter as well - finally
As you said they are still calling it online V3...but the charges are very similar to a standard rate paying by direct debit...
Electricity to 13.19p for first 225 units (up 30%) then 8.16p (+20%) for remainder
Gas to 4.035p (+34%) for first 1465 units then 2.537p (+21%) for remainder
All include VAT
Think these are rather staggering price rises...and it equates to an overall price increase of 25% in one year!!!
They do have a V5 online tariff (would only be a small increase), but as existing customers, we cannot switch to it....(case in point from last post!!-notbritishgas)
So as I only have 14 days to change I will be...British Gas could save me almost £100...plus a bit of cashback...but more to the point I won't have to pay the increased unit charge from EDF right now...
I'll take my chances with British Gas...0 -
Correct me if i'm wrong but British Gas Duel Fuel prices have not been subject to a increase from (refering to Click 4)
British Gas Click Energy 4 domestic gas charges pence per kwh, with effect from 11 October, 2007
British Gas Click Energy 4 domestic single rate electricity charges pence per kwh, with effect from 11 October, 2007
are they not likely to be about to announce an increase0 -
I suppose they might in the nearish future once they have sucked us all in...but then I could go back to EDF and V5 online!! Apparently that would be fine, can't switch directly as an existing customer.
The other alternative is Atlantic, but I know they haven't announced any increases at all yet...next month I think?
Any thoughts anyone, gratefully received0 -
Just got my letter today to say prices have gone up from 1st Feb.
Yorkshire Region
Electricity
First 225kWhrs quarter was 9.9p now 13.87p (40% increase)
All other usage was 6.65p now 7.45p (12% increase)
Gas
First 1465kWh quarter was 2.970p now 3.843p (30% increase)
All other usage was 2.045p now 2.416p (18% increase)
Just had a quick look on one of the price checker web sites and it looks like I can get it cheaper so I'm going to call EDF and tell them I'm offski.0 -

IMO switch to BG get 60.00 cashback via quidco, and then keep reviewing the situation, personally ive kept switching between BG and SP. :cool:0 -
Called them and told them I'm off.
Just transferred the Electric to BR Click4 through Quidco so hopefully will get £40 cashback.
Looks like The Gas is cheapest via Spark, whoever they are. Will have another look later and then unless I see any problems with Spark or find somewhere cheaper I'll be moving to them.
Bye Bye EDF0 -

Can someone tell me how to switch to British Gas via Quidco? I've followed the BG link from Quidco site but cannot find anywhere to signup! I even searched the BG help system but no luck. I have even asked BG :rotfl:
*** update ***
Received a nice reply from BG guiding me to the web page to 'Apply now'. I went to the page (as I had done before) and still no 'Apply now' button. Then I used a different web browser and hey presto the button appeared!
Thanks
The prices for EDF have risen so much (gas 24% & elect 20%) that even if BG increase it might still be cheaper. Can always switch again if I can find out how!0 -
I'm too with EDF V 3, duel fuel online thingy, I have been to uswitch.com and EDF is still the cheapest for me by £5.92 a year. Has the uswitch.com comparison taken into account the new price increase yet"Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does, except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place." — Abigail Van Buren0

Have a look at the next cheapest on the comparison site then go to the provider check what the tariff's are and compare with the new edf tariff is it less or more than the edf tariff received today.
If more then the site is operating with the latest tariff.0 -
uSwitch still don't have the latest tariff, although they say they are up to date...try http://www.energyhelpline.com/ they have the new prices...also very helpful on the phone...they also show the newest tariffs on your EDF account as your current tariff details "click here" at the top. Also all info about newest tariffs.
Hope that helps0
