Maybe because to get rate of 6.50%, the balance has to be £9,000? It doesn't appear on moneysupermarket or moneyfacts either.

I an thinking about transfering my cash ISA with Ruffler bank to this Lloyds-TSB account. Has anybody done this yet and if so how is the process going?

I don't think the account has been around long enough for anyone to have gone all the way through the transfer process yet but here's "the journey" thus far for us.

I/Mrs W have banked with LTSB for well over 30yrs, so have not generally been displeased with the service. However in opening 2xISAs for us both have really been surprised by their ineptitude of their staff!
Phoned last week to start the ball rolling and was surprised at the length of time the call took to open the 2 accounts and the questions needed with 2 such long established customers. Hey ho, small price to pay ... but you would expect the staff to note the fact we'd fully subscribed this years allowance and wanted to open it with a transfer in from YBS.

Tuesday my form arrived confirming that ... I was opening it with a personal cheque deposit of well over £10k - would that I could, given the ISA limit is £3K and it's been subscribed for this tax year! No transfer form was included.
Rang their 0845 number and was on the line for over 20 minutes trying to sort it out and speak to the savings dept. Mentioned that Mrs W had opened an account on the same terms in the same call but they went all "confidentiality rules" on me 'til I pointed out they had made a mistake on mine, I didn't want info on her account but if they'd made the same mistake on hers the least they could do was waste only one of ours time to sort it out.
Yesterday 2 transfer forms arrived which were completed and returned but this morning the Mrs's papers arrived confirming she was opening her ISA with a cheque deposit of £1900 [totally fictitious figure  ]!!

To-night I'm gonna pen a Mr Angry formal complaint letter to cover us in case LTSB cack-up completely and lose our ISAs their tax free status!

So our our experience is less than positive - however if it's the right account for you don't be put off, just be prep'd for a few problems.

oh. I asked the chap on the phone would I get the transfer form to sign. He said "NO, we will do this for you". Yes, he didn't sound well trained to me. Now, still waiting.
  • I started the transfer process today. Was told it would take around 6 weeks. I went into branch and got the business card of the person who took my details along with their mobile number. Any problems and I will only have one person to deal with and it wont be on any 0845 number (mobiles are free for me to call).

EDIT: On the computer there was a facilty to set up a 1 time direct debit. I explained I would like to pay the 3.6k at various timesover the next tax year. She went to phone higher up and came back and saying it would be fine to make further payments whenever I want.
  • Progress report:
I opened my Lloyds TSB fixed rate ISA on 8th feb, filled in all forms in the local branch with the manager, transferred 1 ISA from NS&I and 1 ISA from Kent reliance,
I recieved a letter yesterday the 13th!!! from Kent reliance informing me my ISA account was now closed and all funds transferred to Lloyds TSB.
Still waiting to hear from NS&I, and also still waiting for my Internet ID, to access my ISA on line.
    Steve;)

Yes, as they ask for your current details(eg sort code/account#) to search for you..

Yes, but still I was on the phone for 30 minutes, only to have to get them to post me the transfer forms..Aparrantly they've never heard of National Savings and Investments(or NS&I) and couldn't find it on their list!!! Plus 'computer says no' to another account # being wrong..just checked online, it's correct!!

    Thanks for this reply.

Is there at least an email address to which I can send a few questions about this ISA?

    You could try :

    But no guarantees.

If your going to a branch to open account phone 0800 015 0060-they will make a timed appointment at a branch of your choice, saves waiting as they are snowed under with applications at the moment

    A few points worth noting:

I also confirmed with them that I can introduce this year's ISA, which currently attracts 8.1% at A&L, at a later stage.

I can't find details of Alliance & Leicester ISA with 8.1% - is this a typo or am I looking in the wrong place?

    Thanks.
